Journal ArticleDOI

Mainstreaming commercial CSP systems: A technology review

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors summarized the current status and new trends in concentrating solar power (CSP) technology, analyzed the technology cost and their evolution during the last years, with special focus on thermal storage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of new molten salts with LiNO3 and Ca(NO3)2 for energy storage in CSP plants

TL;DR: In this paper, the effect of the addition of LiNO3 and/or Ca(NO3)2 to the solar salt NaNO3/KNO3, which is used as a storage material in CSP plants, on the physicochemical properties thereof was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Materials corrosion for thermal energy storage systems in concentrated solar power plants

TL;DR: In this article, a comprehensive summary of uniform corrosion rates determined for common and less common alloys considered for application in thermal energy storage (TES) is provided, along with discussion of the applicability for evaluation of possible corrosion damage in an actual CSP plant.
Journal ArticleDOI

Molten Salt Corrosion of Stainless Steels and Low-Cr Steel in CSP Plants

TL;DR: In this paper, the corrosive effects of 60% NaNO3/40% Na NO3 have been tested at 390 and 550°C, in order to simulate the working conditions in two principal concentrated solar power (CSP) plants, on stainless steel (AISI 304, 430) and on a low-Cr alloy steel (T22) containing 2.25% Cr.
