Francesco Vizzutti,Umberto Arena,Roberto Giulio Romanelli,L. Rega,Marco Foschi,Stefano Colagrande,A. Petrarca,S. Moscarella,Giacomo Belli,Anna Linda Zignego,Fabio Marra,Giacomo Laffi,Massimo Pinzani +12 more
TL;DR: LSM represents a non‐invasive tool for the identification of chronic liver disease patients with clinically significant or severe portal hypertension and could be employed for screening patients to be subjected to standard investigations including upper GI endoscopy and hemodynamic studies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Infection of peripheral mononuclear blood cells by hepatitis C virus
Anna Linda Zignego,Anna Linda Zignego,Donatella Macchia,Monica Monti,Valérie Thiers,Marcello Mazzetti,Marco Foschi,Enrico Maggi,Sergio Romagnani,Paolo Gentilini,Christian Bréchot,Christian Bréchot +11 more
TL;DR: The results indicate that HCV infect blood mononuclear cells, thus suggesting that this cellular tropism may play a role in HCV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mixed cryoglobulinemia: demographic, clinical, and serologic features and survival in 231 patients.
Clodoveo Ferri,Marco Sebastiani,Dilia Giuggioli,M Cazzato,Giovanni Longombardo,Alessandro Antonelli,R Puccini,Claudio Michelassi,Anna Linda Zignego +8 more
TL;DR: Careful patient monitoring is recommended for a timely diagnosis of life-threatening Mixed cryoglobulinemia complications, mainly nephropathy, widespread vasculitis, and B-cell lymphoma or other malignancies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hepatitis C virus infection in patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.
Clodoveo Ferri,Francesco Caracciolo,Anna Linda Zignego,Luca La Civita,Monica Monti,Giovanni Longombardo,F. Lombardini,Francesco Greco,Enrico Capochiani,A. Mazzoni,Cesare Mazzaro,Giampiero Pasero +11 more
TL;DR: Antibodies against HCV were found in 30% of NHL and HCV viraemia in 32% of cases, and this prevalence is particularly significant when compared with HCV seropositivity in Hodgkin's lymphoma and healthy controls.
Journal ArticleDOI
Extrahepatic manifestations of chronic hepatitis C virus infection
TL;DR: This review aims to outline most of the extrahepatic manifestations that are currently being investigated, including some of autoimmune and/or lymphoproliferative nature, and others in which the role of immune mechanisms appears less clear.
