Journal ArticleDOI
Evolutionary history, potential intermediate animal host, and cross-species analyses of SARS-CoV-2.
TL;DR: The human SARS‐CoV‐2 virus, which is responsible for the recent outbreak of COVID‐19, did not come directly from pangolins, and a unique peptide (PRRA) insertion was identified in the human Sars‐CoVs2 virus that may be involved in the proteolytic cleavage of the spike protein by cellular proteases, and thus could impact host range and transmissibility.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transmission dynamics and evolutionary history of 2019-nCoV.
TL;DR: To investigate the time origin, genetic diversity, and transmission dynamics of the recent 2019‐nCoV outbreak in China and beyond, a total of 32 genomes of virus strains sampled from China, Thailand, and the USA were analyzed.
Journal ArticleDOI
HIV persists throughout deep tissues with repopulation from multiple anatomical sources.
Antoine Chaillon,Sara Gianella,Simon Dellicour,Simon Dellicour,Stephen A. Rawlings,Timothy E. Schlub,Michelli F. Oliveira,Caroline Ignacio,Magali Porrachia,Bram Vrancken,Davey M. Smith +10 more
TL;DR: HIV reservoirs persist in all deep tissues, and blood is the main source of dispersal, which may explain why eliminating HIV susceptibility in circulating T cells via bone marrow transplants allowed some people with HIV to have therapy free remission, even though deeper tissue reservoirs were not targeted.
Journal ArticleDOI
Clear Links Between Starting Methamphetamine and Increasing Sexual Risk Behavior: A Cohort Study Among Men Who Have Sex With Men.
Martin Hoenigl,Antoine Chaillon,David J. Moore,Sheldon R. Morris,Davey M. Smith,Susan J. Little +5 more
TL;DR: Until more effective prevention or treatment interventions are available for methamphetamine users, HIV-uninfected MSM who use methamphetamine may represent ideal candidates for alternative effective prevention interventions (ie, preexposure prophylaxis).
Journal ArticleDOI
Rapid HIV Viral Load Suppression in those Initiating Antiretroviral Therapy at First Visit after HIV Diagnosis.
Martin Hoenigl,Martin Hoenigl,Antoine Chaillon,David J. Moore,Sheldon R. Morris,Sanjay Mehta,Sanjay Mehta,Sara Gianella,K. Rivet Amico,Susan J. Little +9 more
TL;DR: ART initiated at the intake visit led to rapid and reliable viral suppression in acute, early and chronic HIV infection, in particular when integrase inhibitor-based regimens were used.
