Guidelines of care for the management of primary cutaneous melanoma
Christopher K. Bichakjian,Allan C. Halpern,Timothy M. Johnson,Antoinette F. Hood,James M. Grichnik,Susan M. Swetter,Susan M. Swetter,Hensin Tsao,Victoria Holloway Barbosa,Tsu Yi Chuang,Madeleine Duvic,Vincent C. Ho,Arthur J. Sober,Karl R. Beutner,Reva Bhushan,Wendy Smith Begolka +15 more
TL;DR: The value and limitations of sentinel lymph node biopsy and recommendations for its use in patients with primary cutaneous melanoma are discussed and the use of laboratory and imaging tests in the initial workup of patients with newly diagnosed melanoma is offered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Calciphylaxis is associated with hyperphosphatemia and increased osteopontin expression by vascular smooth muscle cells
TL;DR: A case-control study demonstrates that hyperphosphatemia and an elevated calcium X phosphorus product is associated with CUA and Histologic examination suggests that the calcification isassociated with increased expression of osteopontin by smooth muscle cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Guidelines of care for primary cutaneous melanoma
Arthur J. Sober,Tsu-Yi Chuang,Madeleine Duvic,Evan R. Farmer,James M. Grichnik,Allan C. Halpern,Vincent C. Ho,Victoria L. Holloway,Antoinette F. Hood,Timothy M. Johnson,Barbara J Lowery +10 more
TL;DR: This document spells out the aims and responsibilities of the American Academy of Dermatology, and describes the current and proposed policies and procedures, as well as specific actions to be taken in the event of future disagreements.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic and Biochemical Evidence That Haploinsufficiency of the Nf1 Tumor Suppressor Gene Modulates Melanocyte and Mast Cell Fates in Vivo
David A. Ingram,Feng Chun Yang,Jeffrey B. Travers,Mary Jo Wenning,Kelly Hiatt,Sheryl New,Antoinette F. Hood,Kevin Shannon,David R. Williams,D. Wade Clapp +9 more
TL;DR: Haploinsufficiency at Nf1 perturbs cell fates in mast cells in vivo, and partially rescues coat color and mast cell defects in W41 mice, and support the emerging concept that heterozygous inactivation of tumor suppressor genes may have profound biological effects in multiple cell types.
Journal ArticleDOI
Neonatal Lupus Erythematosus: New Serologic Findings
TL;DR: A child with neonatal lupus was evaluated and found to possess serum anti Ro(SSA) antibodies, while the infant's mother was asymptomatic but possessed anti Ro-SSA and anti La(SSB) antibodies.
