Journal ArticleDOI

Analysis of chemical stress and the propensity for cracking during the vertical Bridgman growth of BaBrCl:Eu

TL;DR: In this article, the authors employed computational models to analyze residual chemical stresses arising from compositional variations in europium-doped BaBrCl crystals grown by the vertical Bridgman method and found that significant chemical stress is produced by radial segregation of Eu in this system.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Optical constants of as-deposited and treated alkali halides, and their VUV quantum efficiency

TL;DR: The optical constants of thin films of CsI, KI, and KBr in the spectral range of 53.6-174.4 nm were obtained from the measurements of reflectivity as a function of the incidence angle as discussed by the authors.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

High dynamic range photon counting imagers using nano-engineered microchannel plates

TL;DR: In this article, nano-engineered microchannel plates (MCPs) are used to enhance a new generation of NUV-visible light photon counting detectors that have a wide range of applications in LIDAR, 3D topographic imaging, high speed photography, bio-medial fluorescence microscopy and astronomical imaging.
Journal ArticleDOI

Development of atomic layer deposition-activated microchannel plates for single particle detection at cryogenic temperatures

TL;DR: In this article, the authors developed custom tools and recipes for the growth of conformal films, with optimized conductance and secondary electron emission inside very long channels (∼6-20 μm diameter and >600 μm length, with tens of millions of channels per single MCP) by ALD.
