Journal ArticleDOI

Reduced growth hormone response to growth hormone‐releasing hormone in children with simple obesity: evidence for somatomedin‐c mediated inhibition

TL;DR: Plasma somatomedin‐C (SM‐C) levels were significantly higher in obese than control children, and were negatively correlated with the peak plasma GH levels, implying that it may be due to the feedback inhibition operated by the elevated plasma levels of SM‐C.
Journal ArticleDOI

KCNJ11 activating mutations in Italian patients with permanent neonatal diabetes.

TL;DR: It is suggested that the acronym PNDM be replaced with the more comprehensive permanent diabetes mellitus of infancy (PDMI), linking it to the gene product (e.g., GCK‐PDMI, KCNJ11‐ PDMI) to avoid confusion between patients with early‐onset, autoimmune type 1 diabetes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Diagnosis, treatment and prevention of pediatric obesity: Consensus position statement of the Italian Society for Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetology and the Italian Society of Pediatrics

TL;DR: The main novelties deriving from the Italian experience lie in the definition, screening of the cardiometabolic and hepatic risk factors and the endorsement of a staged approach to treatment.
