Journal ArticleDOI
A Methyl Group Controls Conformational Equilibrium in Human Mitochondrial tRNALys
Felix Voigts-Hoffmann,Martin Hengesbach,Andrei Yu Kobitski,Arthur Van Aerschot,Piet Herdewijn,G. Ulrich Nienhaus,Mark Helm +6 more
TL;DR: Single molecule FRET analysis makes dynamics and thermodynamics of these small RNAs conveniently accessible and elucidates the mode of action of a simple post-transcriptional modification.
Journal ArticleDOI
D-Altritol Nucleic Acids (ANA): Hybridisation Properties, Stability, and Initial Structural Analysis
Brigitte Allart,K. Khan,Helmut Rosemeyer,Guy Schepers,Chris Hendrix,K. Rothenbacher,Frank Seela,Arthur Van Aerschot,Piet Herdewijn +8 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Acyclic oligonucleotides: possibilities and limitations
F. Vandendriessche,Koen Augustyns,Arthur Van Aerschot,Roger Busson,Jos Hoogmartens,Piet Herdewijn +5 more
TL;DR: Oligonucleotides containing acyclic nucleosides with a 3( S ),5-dihydroxypentyl ( 1a–e ) or 4( R )-methoxy-3( S),5-Dihydroxy-3 ( 2a ) side chain were prepared and their hybridization properties as well as their stability towards degradation with snake venom posphodiesterase were studied.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthetic Microcin C Analogs Targeting Different Aminoacyl-tRNA Synthetases
Pieter Van de Vijver,Gaston H. Vondenhoff,Gaston H. Vondenhoff,Teymur Kazakov,Ekaterina Semenova,Konstantin Kuznedelov,Anastasia Metlitskaya,Arthur Van Aerschot,Konstantin Severinov,Konstantin Severinov +9 more
TL;DR: Three McC-like compounds containing a terminal aspartate, glutamate, or leucine attached to adenosine through a nonhydrolyzable sulfamoyl bond are synthesised and shown to function in a manner similar to that of McC.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis and Pairing Properties of Oligonucleotides Containing 3‐Hydroxy‐4‐hydroxymethyl‐1‐cyclohexanyl Nucleosides
Yuris Maurinsh,Helmut Rosemeyer,Robert Esnouf,Andrei Medvedovici,Jing Wang,G. Ceulemans,Eveline Lescrinier,Chris Hendrix,Roger Busson,Pat Sandra,Frank Seela,Arthur Van Aerschot,Piet Herdewijn +12 more
TL;DR: In this article, cyclohexanyl nucleic acid (CNA) represents a novel enantioselective Watson-Crick base-pairing system, and homochiral oligomers of equivalent chirality show antiparallel WCB pairing, while those of opposite sense do not.
