miR-34 miRNAs provide a barrier for somatic cell reprogramming.
Yong Jin Choi,Chao Po Lin,Jaclyn J. Ho,Xingyue He,Nobuhiro Okada,Pengcheng Bu,Yingchao Zhong,Sang Yong Kim,Margaux J Bennett,Caifu Chen,Arzu Öztürk,Geoffrey G. Hicks,Greg J. Hannon,Lin He +13 more
TL;DR: These findings identified miR-34 miRNAs as p53 targets that play an essential role in restraining somatic reprogramming.
Journal ArticleDOI
ALS-Associated FUS Mutations Result in Compromised FUS Alternative Splicing and Autoregulation
TL;DR: FUS autoregulation by alternative splicing provides insight into a molecular mechanism by which FUS-regulated pre-mRNA processing can impact a significant number of targets important to neurodegeneration.
Journal ArticleDOI
MicroRNA-200b regulates distal airway development by maintaining epithelial integrity.
Naghmeh Khoshgoo,Naghmeh Khoshgoo,Robin Visser,Robin Visser,Landon Falk,Landon Falk,Chelsea Day,Chelsea Day,Dustin Ameis,Dustin Ameis,Barbara M. Iwasiow,Barbara M. Iwasiow,Fuqin Zhu,Fuqin Zhu,Arzu Öztürk,Sujata Basu,Sujata Basu,Molly Pind,Agnes Fresnosa,Michael F. Jackson,Vinaya Kumar Siragam,Vinaya Kumar Siragam,Gerald L. Stelmack,Gerald L. Stelmack,Geoffrey G. Hicks,Andrew J. Halayko,Andrew J. Halayko,Richard Keijzer,Richard Keijzer +28 more
TL;DR: It is shown that miR-200b−/− mice have abnormal lung function due to dysfunctional surfactant, increased fibroblast-like cells and thicker mesenchyme in between the alveolar walls, and the most affected biological processes include cell cycle, apoptosis and protein transport.
Journal ArticleDOI
FUS-regulated RNA metabolism and DNA damage repair: Implications for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and frontotemporal dementia pathogenesis
TL;DR: It is shown that FUS targets RNA for pre-mRNA alternative splicing and for the processing of long intron-containing transcripts, and that these targets are enriched for genes in neurogenesis and gene expression regulation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Proteomic Identification of AP2γ as a Rat Placental Lactogen II Trophoblast Cell-Specific Enhancer Binding Protein
TL;DR: Data support a role for AP2 gamma in the placental giant cell-specific expression of the rPLII gene and provide the first direct evidence for the involvement of a placental-specific transcription factor in the regulation of a member of this gene family.
