Journal ArticleDOI

Abnormal vitamin K metabolism in the presence of normal clotting factor activity in factory workers exposed to 4-hydroxycoumarins.

TL;DR: There is an apparent dissociation between the effect of coumarin anticoagulants on vitamin K1 metabolism and clotting factor activity and subsequent haematological investigations have been shown to be normal in both cases for at least 18 months.
Journal ArticleDOI

Glutathione S-transferase mu genotype (GSTM1*0) in Alzheimer's patients with tacrine transaminitis.

TL;DR: The results indicate that the GSTM1 status cannot be used clinically to predict individual susceptibility to tacrine transaminitis, and that patients with the GSTm1*0 genotype are unlikely to have an increased risk of tacrine-induced liver damage.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hepatic enzyme induction and leucocyte delta-aminolaevulinic acid synthase activity: studies with carbamazepine.

TL;DR: Dose-dependent induction of antipyrine metabolism was demonstrated but cortisol hydroxylation appeared maximally induced by the 400 mg dose and ALA.S activity may represent a novel in vivo index of extrahepatic enzyme induction in man.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of cimetidine on carbamazepine auto- and hetero-induction in man.

TL;DR: The effect of cimetidine and matching placebo on the enzyme-inducing properties of carbamazepine was studied in seven healthy male volunteers and Epileptic patients receiving CBZ chronically may be at risk of toxicity if CMT is also prescribed.
