Individual and Center-Level Factors Affecting Mortality Among Extremely Low Birth Weight Infants
Brandon W. Alleman,Edward F. Bell,Lei Li,John M. Dagle,P. Brian Smith,Namasivayam Ambalavanan,Matthew M. Laughon,Barbara J. Stoll,Ronald N. Goldberg,Waldemar A. Carlo,Jeffrey C. Murray,C. Michael Cotten,Seetha Shankaran,Michele C. Walsh,Abbot R. Laptook,Dan L. Ellsbury,Ellen C. Hale,Nancy S. Newman,Dennis Wallace,Abhik Das,Rosemary D. Higgins +20 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that deaths may be prevented by standardizing care for very early GA infants, especially for infants born at <25 weeks’ GA, and for infants with GA ≥25 weeks these differences account for only a small part of the variation in mortality.

Watterberg,William E Truog +21 more
TL;DR: Moderately preterm neonates are an understudied group of high-risk infants that experience morbidity and prolonged hospitalization, and such morbidity deserves focused research to improve therapeutic and prevention strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recognition and medical management of necrotizing enterocolitis.
TL;DR: The signs and symptoms associated with necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and the common scenarios in which NEC is observed are described to help physicians appreciate the breadth of this illness and to aid in the identification and diagnosis of those affected.
Journal ArticleDOI
