Journal ArticleDOI
Risk stratification for locoregional recurrence after radical cystectomy for urothelial carcinoma of the bladder
Vladimir Novotny,Michael Froehner,Matthias May,Chris Protzel,Katrin Hergenröther,Michael Rink,Felix K.-H. Chun,Margit Fisch,Florian Roghmann,Rein-Jüri Palisaar,Joachim Noldus,Michael Gierth,Hans-Martin Fritsche,Maximilian Burger,Danijel Sikic,Bastian Keck,Bernd Wullich,Philipp Nuhn,Alexander Buchner,Christian G. Stief,Stefan Vallo,Georg Bartsch,Axel Haferkamp,Patrick J. Bastian,Oliver W. Hakenberg,Stefan Propping,Atiqullah Aziz +26 more
TL;DR: The Christodouleas risk model has been successfully externally validated and may be used to identify patients who benefit from an adjuvant therapy and suit for inclusion in clinical trials by incorporating lymphovascular invasion.
Journal ArticleDOI
Female sex is an independent risk factor for reduced overall survival in bladder cancer patients treated by transurethral resection and radio- or radiochemotherapy.
Bastian Keck,Oliver J. Ott,Lothar Häberle,Frank Kunath,Christian Weiss,Claus Rödel,Rolf Sauer,Rainer Fietkau,Bernd Wullich,Frens S. Krause +9 more
TL;DR: Female sex is an independent prognostic factor for reduced OS and CSS in bladder cancer patients treated by TURBT and RT or RCT, in agreement with those reported for OS after radical cystectomy in muscle-invasive bladder cancers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diagnostic potential of major and trace elements in the serum of bladder cancer patients.
Sven Wach,Katrin Weigelt,Bernhard Michalke,Verena Lieb,Robert Stoehr,Bastian Keck,Arndt Hartmann,Bernd Wullich,Helge Taubert,Anwar Chaudhri +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that determination of the elements calcium, lithium, nickel and strontium in the serum could be a new and promising tool for the early diagnosis of BCa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunohistochemiocal subtyping using CK20 and CK5 can identify urothelial carcinomas of the upper urinary tract with a poor prognosis
Danijel Sikic,Bastian Keck,Sven Wach,Helge Taubert,Bernd Wullich,Peter J. Goebell,Andreas Kahlmeyer,Peter Olbert,Philipp Isfort,Wilhelm Nimphius,Arndt Hartmann,Johannes Giedl +11 more
TL;DR: Immunohistochemical subgrouping of upper tract urothelial carcinomas by analyzing CK5 and CK20 expression can be performed in a routine setting and can identify tumors with a significantly worse cancer-specific survival prognosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Piwil 2 Expression Is Correlated with Disease-Specific and Progression-Free Survival of Chemotherapy-Treated Bladder Cancer Patients
Helge Taubert,Sven Wach,Rudolf Jung,Michael Pugia,Bastian Keck,Simone Bertz,Elke Nolte,Robert Stoehr,Jan Lehmann,Carsten-H. Ohlmann,Michael Stöckle,Bernd Wullich,Arndt Hartmann +12 more
TL;DR: A combination of weak cytoplasmic and absent nuclear expression of Piwil 2 is significantly associated with an increased risk of DSS and tumor progression, which indicates that PiWil 2 could be a valuable prognostic marker for high-risk BCa patients.
