Journal ArticleDOI
Circulating Angiogenic Factors and the Risk of Preeclampsia
Richard J. Levine,Sharon Maynard,Cong Qian,Kee-Hak Lim,Lucinda England,Kai F. Yu,Enrique F. Schisterman,Ravi Thadhani,Benjamin P. Sachs,Franklin H. Epstein,Bahaeddine M Sibai,Vikas P. Sukhatme,S. Ananth Karumanchi +12 more
TL;DR: Alterations in the levels of sFlt-1 and free PlGF were greater in women with an earlier onset of preeclampsia and in women in whom preeClampsia was associated with a small-for-gestational-age infant.
Journal ArticleDOI
Soluble endoglin and other circulating antiangiogenic factors in preeclampsia.
Richard J. Levine,Chun Lam,Cong Qian,Kai F. Yu,Sharon Maynard,Benjamin P. Sachs,Baha M. Sibai,Franklin H. Epstein,Roberto Romero,Roberto Romero,Ravi Thadhani,S. Ananth Karumanchi +11 more
TL;DR: Rising circulating levels of soluble endoglin and ratios of sFlt1:PlGF herald the onset of preeclampsia, which was greatest among women in the highest quartile of the control distributions for both biomarkers but not for either biomarker alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Urinary placental growth factor and risk of preeclampsia.
Richard J. Levine,Ravi Thadhani,Cong Qian,Chun Lam,Kee-Hak Lim,Kai F. Yu,Anastasia L. Blink,Benjamin P. Sachs,Franklin H. Epstein,Bahaeddine M Sibai,Vikas P. Sukhatme,S. Ananth Karumanchi +11 more
TL;DR: Testing the hypothesis that urinary PlGF is reduced prior to onset of hypertension and proteinuria and that this reduction predicts preeclampsia found decreased urinary Pl GF at mid gestation is strongly associated with subsequent early development of preeClampsia.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects of teamwork training on adverse outcomes and process of care in labor and delivery: a randomized controlled trial.
Peter E. Nielsen,Marlene B. Goldman,Susan Mann,David Shapiro,Ronald Marcus,Stephen D. Pratt,Penny Greenberg,Patricia McNamee,Mary Salisbury,David J. Birnbach,Paul A. Gluck,Mark D. Pearlman,Heidi King,David N. Tornberg,Benjamin P. Sachs +14 more
TL;DR: The Adverse Outcome Index could be an important tool for comparing obstetric outcomes within and between institutions to help guide quality improvement.
Journal ArticleDOI
Smoking and reproduction
Edward E. Wallach,Robert J. Stillman,Robert J. Stillman,Robert J. Stillman,Michael J. Rosenberg,Michael J. Rosenberg,Michael J. Rosenberg,Benjamin P. Sachs,Benjamin P. Sachs,Benjamin P. Sachs +9 more
TL;DR: It is stressed that efforts to persuade women to stop smoking have been inadequate and particularly imperative for women who have had divviculties conceving or have had a history of miscarraiges to give up cigarette smoking.
