Journal ArticleDOI
Structural and electronic properties of epitaxial multilayer h-BN on Ni(111) for spintronics applications.
Alexander A. Tonkikh,Elena Voloshina,Peter Werner,Horst Blumtritt,Boris V. Senkovskiy,G. Güntherodt,G. Güntherodt,Stuart S. P. Parkin,Yuriy Dedkov +8 more
TL;DR: This work reports on the controlled growth of h-BN/Ni(111) by means of molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), and demonstrates that MBE is a promising, versatile alternative to both the exfoliation approach and chemical vapour deposition of h -BN.
Journal ArticleDOI
The Chemistry of Imperfections in N-Graphene
Dmitry Yu. Usachov,Alexander Fedorov,Alexander Fedorov,Oleg Yu. Vilkov,Boris V. Senkovskiy,Boris V. Senkovskiy,V. K. Adamchuk,Lada V. Yashina,Andrey A. Volykhov,Mani Farjam,Nikolay I. Verbitskiy,Nikolay I. Verbitskiy,Alexander Grüneis,Clemens Laubschat,Denis V. Vyalikh,Denis V. Vyalikh +15 more
TL;DR: A method to handle N-impurities in graphene is demonstrated, which allows efficient conversion of pyridinic N to graphitic N and therefore precise tuning of the charge carrier concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI
Rehybridization of carbon on facets of detonation diamond nanocrystals and forming hydrosols of individual particles
A. T. Dideikin,A.E. Aleksenskii,M. V. Baidakova,M. V. Baidakova,Pavel N. Brunkov,Pavel N. Brunkov,Maria Brzhezinskaya,V. Yu. Davydov,V. S. Levitskii,S. V. Kidalov,Yu. A. Kukushkina,Demid A. Kirilenko,Demid A. Kirilenko,V. V. Shnitov,A. V. Shvidchenko,Boris V. Senkovskiy,M.S. Shestakov,A. Ya. Vul +17 more
TL;DR: In this paper, it was revealed that sp3-sp2 rehybridization of carbon atoms on the facets of nanocrystalline paricles of detonation diamond under thermal treatment results in weakening the hardness of its primary agglomerates.
Journal ArticleDOI
Making Graphene Nanoribbons Photoluminescent
Boris V. Senkovskiy,Markus Pfeiffer,Sayed Khalil Alavi,Sayed Khalil Alavi,Andrea Bliesener,Jingyi Zhu,S. Michel,Alexander Fedorov,Alexander Fedorov,Raphael German,Dirk Hertel,Danny Haberer,Luca Petaccia,Felix R. Fischer,Klaus Meerholz,P.H.M. van Loosdrecht,Klas Lindfors,Alexander Grüneis +17 more
TL;DR: It is found that the PL of GNRs is intrinsically low but can be strongly enhanced by blue laser irradiation in ambient conditions or hydrogenation in ultrahigh vacuum, which causes the formation of sp3 defects in GNRs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Structural and electronic properties of epitaxial multilayer h-BN on Ni(111) for spintronics applications
Alexander A. Tonkikh,Elena Voloshina,Peter Werner,Horst Blumtritt,Boris V. Senkovskiy,G. Güntherodt,G. Güntherodt,Stuart S. P. Parkin,Yuriy Dedkov +8 more
TL;DR: In this article, a controlled growth of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) by means of molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) is reported, and structural and electronic properties of this system are investigated using cross-section transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and electron spectroscopies which confirm good agreement with the properties of bulk h-BN.
