Study of sulfur introduction in activated carbon

TL;DR: In this paper, the introduction of sulfur on the surface of activated carbon was studied in different experimental conditions and the stability of the surface state was checked against the increase of temperature and outgassing.
Journal ArticleDOI

Mass and surface changes of activated carbon treated with nitric acid. Thermal behavior of the samples

TL;DR: The mass and surface changes produced when a commercial activated carbon is treated with HNO 3 solutions and in the subsequent heat treatment of the resulting samples are investigated in this paper, where the outgassing, first of activated carbon and the contact, then of the acid solution with the resulting intermediate product, were effected under controlled temperature and temporal conditions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effect of acid and heat treatments on surface area and porosity of a Spanish coal with high mineral matter content

TL;DR: The main components of the mineral matter of a Spanish coal (ASTM classification as high volatile A bituminous) were shown, by X-ray diffraction studies and ash analyses, to be quartz, kaolin and mica.
Journal ArticleDOI

The use of waste matter after olive grove pruning for the preparation of charcoal. The influence of the type of matter, particle size and pyrolysis temperature

TL;DR: In this article, the authors used pyrolysis under dynamic heating conditions in nitrogen (dynamic, 200 ml/min) and air (static) and were characterized by proximate and elemental analysis, helium density and surface area.
Journal ArticleDOI

p-Nitrophenol adsorption from aqueous solution on carbon black. Temperature effect

TL;DR: In this article, the authors studied the adsorption and its temperature dependence of p-nitrophenol from anaqueous solution on a series of carbon black samples, and showed that the adaption is independent of the temperature of the sample.
