SSEA-4 identifies mesenchymal stem cells from bone marrow
Eun Ji Gang,Darko Bosnakovski,Camila Alexandrina Figueiredo,Jan W.M. Visser,Rita C.R. Perlingeiro +4 more
TL;DR: It is reported that SSEA-4, an early embryonic glycolipid antigen commonly used as a marker for undifferentiated pluripotent human embryonic stem cells and cleavage to blastocyst stage embryos, also identifies the adult mesenchymal stem cell population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Origin and dynamics of admixture in Brazilians and its effect on the pattern of deleterious mutations
Fernanda S G Kehdy,Mateus H. Gouveia,Moara Machado,Wagner C. S. Magalhães,Andrea R. V. R. Horimoto,Bernardo L. Horta,Rennan G. Moreira,Thiago P. Leal,Marilia O. Scliar,Giordano B. Soares-Souza,Fernanda Rodrigues-Soares,Gilderlanio S. Araújo,Roxana Zamudio,Hanaisa P. Sant Anna,Hadassa Campos Santos,Nubia E. Duarte,Rosemeire L. Fiaccone,Camila Alexandrina Figueiredo,Thiago Magalhães da Silva,Gustavo Nunes de Oliveira Costa,Sandra Beleza,Douglas E. Berg,Lilia Cabrera,Guilherme Debortoli,Denise Duarte,Silvia Ghirotto,Robert H. Gilman,Vanessa F. Gonçalves,Andrea Rita Marrero,Yara Costa Netto Muniz,Hansi Weissensteiner,Meredith Yeager,Laura C. Rodrigues,Mauricio Lima Barreto,M. Fernanda Lima-Costa,Alexandre C. Pereira,Maíra R. Rodrigues,Eduardo Tarazona-Santos +37 more
TL;DR: It is shown that ancestry-positive assortative mating permeated Brazilian history and shows that continental admixture rather than local post-Columbian history is the main and complex determinant of the individual amount of deleterious genotypes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic intestinal helminth infections are associated with immune hyporesponsiveness and induction of a regulatory network.
Camila Alexandrina Figueiredo,Mauricio Lima Barreto,Laura C. Rodrigues,Philip J. Cooper,Philip J. Cooper,Nívea B. da Silva,Leila Denise Alves Ferreira Amorim,Neuza Maria Alcantara-Neves +7 more
TL;DR: Intestinal helminth infections were associated with a typical Th2 immune response profile and with the induction of immune hyporesponsiveness that was associated with greater frequencies of the production of spontaneous IL-10, especially among coinfected and chronically infected children.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-allergic effect of bee pollen phenolic extract and myricetin in ovalbumin-sensitized mice
Karina Carla de Paula Medeiros,Camila Alexandrina Figueiredo,Camila Alexandrina Figueiredo,T.B. Figueredo,T.B. Figueredo,Kristerson Reinaldo de Luna Freire,Francisco de Assis Ribeiro dos Santos,Neuza Maria Alcantara-Neves,Neuza Maria Alcantara-Neves,Tania M. S. Silva,Marcia Regina Piuvezam +10 more
TL;DR: The hypothesis the myricetin is one of the flavonoids of BPPE responsible for the anti-allergic effect and a potential tool to treat allergies is supported.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effects produced by Royal Jelly on haematopoiesis: relation with host resistance against Ehrlich ascites tumour challenge.
Claudia Bincoletto,Claudia Bincoletto,Samara Eberlin,Camila Alexandrina Figueiredo,Marcos Luengo,Mary L.S. Queiroz +5 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that RJ prevented the myelosupression induced by the temporal evolution of the tumour and abrogated the splenic haematopoiesis observed in EAT-bearing mice, pointing to RJ as a promising modifier of biological response leading to myeloprotection and antitumour activity.
