Journal ArticleDOI
Efficacy of Ceftazidime-Avibactam Salvage Therapy in Patients With Infections Caused by Klebsiella pneumoniae Carbapenemase-producing K. pneumoniae.
Mario Tumbarello,Enrico Maria Trecarichi,Alberto Corona,Francesco Giuseppe De Rosa,Matteo Bassetti,Cristina Mussini,Francesco Menichetti,Claudio Viscoli,Caterina Campoli,Mario Venditti,Andrea De Gasperi,Alessandra Mularoni,Carlo Tascini,Giustino Parruti,Carlo Pallotto,Simona Sica,Ercole Concia,Rosario Cultrera,Gennaro De Pascale,Alessandro Capone,Spinello Antinori,Silvia Corcione,Elda Righi,Angela Raffaella Losito,Margherita Digaetano,Francesco Amadori,Daniele Roberto Giacobbe,Giancarlo Ceccarelli,E. Mazza,Francesca Raffaelli,Teresa Spanu,Roberto Cauda,Pierluigi Viale +32 more
TL;DR: CAZ-AVI appears to be a promising drug for treatment of severe KPC-Kp infections, especially those involving bacteremia, as well as hospital-acquired pneumonia, and for gram-negative infections with limited treatment options.
Journal ArticleDOI
2018 EHRA expert consensus statement on lead extraction: recommendations on definitions, endpoints, research trial design, and data collection requirements for clinical scientific studies and registries: endorsed by APHRS/HRS/LAHRS.
Maria Grazia Bongiorni,Haran Burri,Jean Claude Deharo,Christoph Starck,Charles Kennergren,László Sághy,Archana Rao,Carlo Tascini,Nigel Lever,Andrzej Kutarski,Ignacio Fernández Lozano,Neil Strathmore,Roberto Costa,Laurence M. Epstein,Charles J. Love,Carina Blomström-Lundqvist,Laurent Fauchier,Pascal Defaye,David O. Arnar,Didier Klug,Serge Boveda,Jens Cosedis Nielsen,Giuseppe Boriani,Shu Zhang,Andrew Paul Martin,Jordan M. Prutkin,Claudio de Zuloaga +26 more
TL;DR: Clinical research is essential for understanding efficacy and risks of TLE and because of increasing rates of infection, lead failure, awareness of indications for lead management, and development of extraction tools.
Journal ArticleDOI
Added Value of 99mTc-HMPAO–Labeled Leukocyte SPECT/CT in the Characterization and Management of Patients with Infectious Endocarditis
Paola Anna Erba,Umberto Conti,Elena Lazzeri,Martina Sollini,Roberta Doria,Salvatore Mario De Tommasi,Francesco Bandera,Carlo Tascini,Francesco Menichetti,Rudi Dierckx,Alberto Signore,Giuliano Mariani +11 more
TL;DR: The results demonstrate the ability of 99mTc-HMPAO-WBC scintigraphy to reduce the rate of misdiagnosed cases of IE when combined with standard diagnostic tests in several situations: when clinical suspicion is high but echocardiographic findings are inconclusive; when there is a need for differential diagnosis between septic and sterile vegetations detected at eChocardiography.
Journal ArticleDOI
Downregulation by cryptococcal polysaccharide of tumor necrosis factor alpha and interleukin-1 beta secretion from human monocytes.
Anna Vecchiarelli,Cinzia Retini,Donatella Pietrella,Claudia Monari,Carlo Tascini,T Beccari,Thomas R. Kozel +6 more
TL;DR: Data indicate that purified capsular polysaccharide of C. neoformans could contribute to the in vivo progress of cryptococcosis by suppressing cytokine production of macrophages and suggest that a therapeutic approach to address the suppressive effect of cryptococal poly Saccharide could be devised.
Journal ArticleDOI
Purified capsular polysaccharide of Cryptococcus neoformans induces interleukin-10 secretion by human monocytes.
Anna Vecchiarelli,Cinzia Retini,Claudia Monari,Carlo Tascini,Francesco Bistoni,Thomas R. Kozel +5 more
TL;DR: The results suggest a new immunosuppressive effect exerted by glucuronoxylomannan through the induction of IL-10, a potent downregulator of proinflammatory cytokines.
