Organometallic gold(III) complexes with hybrid SNS-donating thiosemicarbazone ligands: cytotoxicity and anti-Trypanosoma cruzi activity
P. I. da S. Maia,Zumira A. Carneiro,Carla D. Lopes,Carolina G. Oliveira,João Santana da Silva,S. de Albuquerque,Adelheid Hagenbach,Ronald Gust,Victor M. Deflon,Ulrich Abram +9 more
TL;DR: No appreciable toxicity to mice spleen cells is observed for this compound resulting in a therapeutic index of about 30, which strongly recommends it as a promising candidate for the development of a future antiparasitic drug.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cobalt(III) complexes with thiosemicarbazones as potential anti-Mycobacterium tuberculosis agents
Carolina G. Oliveira,Pedro I. S. Maia,Marcelo Miyata,Fernando Rogério Pavan,Clarice Queico Fujimura Leite,Eduardo Tonon de Almeida,Victor M. Deflon +6 more
TL;DR: Complexos of CoIII derivados da 2-acetilpiridina N(4)-R tiossemicarbazona (Hatc-R, R = alquil ou aril) foram caracterizados por analise elementar, espectroscopia na regiao do infravermelho, UV-Visivel e 1H RMN, voltametria ciclica (VC), medidas de condutividade e difracao de raios X em monocristal as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel Zinc(II) Complexes [Zn(atc-Et)2] and [Zn(atc-Ph)2]: In Vitro and in Vivo Antiproliferative Studies
Érica de Oliveira Lopes,Carolina G. Oliveira,Patrícia Bento da Silva,Carlos Eduardo Eismann,Carlos A. Suárez,Amauri Antonio Menegário,Clarice Queico Fujimura Leite,Victor M. Deflon,Fernando Rogério Pavan +8 more
TL;DR: Both zinc(II) (ZnII) thiosemicarbazone complexes could be considered as prospective antiproliferative agents that warrant further research.
Journal ArticleDOI
Novel tetranuclear PdII and PtII anticancer complexes derived from pyrene thiosemicarbazones.
Carolina G. Oliveira,Isolda Romero-Canelón,James P. C. Coverdale,Pedro I. S. Maia,Guy J. Clarkson,Victor M. Deflon,Peter J. Sadler +6 more
TL;DR: Experiments that investigated the effects of these tetranuclear complexes on the cell cycle, integrity of the cell membrane, and induction of apoptosis, suggested that their mechanism of action of does not involve DNA targeting, unlike cisplatin, and therefore could be promising for combatting cis Platin resistance.
Journal ArticleDOI
Heterobimetallic nickel(II) and palladium(II) complexes derived from S-benzyl-N- (ferrocenyl)methylenedithiocarbazate: Trypanocidal activity and interaction with Trypanosoma cruzi Old Yellow Enzyme (TcOYE)
Zumira A. Carneiro,Jackelinne C. Lima,Carla D. Lopes,Ana P S Gaspari,Sérgio de Albuquerque,Luis R. Dinelli,Laudimir L.W. Veloso-Silva,Marcella O. Paganelli,Silvia H. Libardi,Carolina G. Oliveira,Victor M. Deflon,Ronaldo Junio de Oliveira,Júlio César Borges,Pedro I. S. Maia +13 more
TL;DR: Although HFedtc was not processed by the enzyme, it was able to act as a competitive inhibitor, blocking the hydride transfer from the FMN prosthetic group of the enzyme to the menadione substrate, and showed the greater potential between the two complexes studied.
