Journal ArticleDOI
Invertebrate neurophylogeny: suggested terms and definitions for a neuroanatomical glossary
Stefan Richter,Rudi Loesel,Günter Purschke,Andreas Schmidt-Rhaesa,Gerhard Scholtz,Thomas Stach,Lars Vogt,Andreas Wanninger,Georg Brenneis,Georg Brenneis,Carmen Döring,Simone Faller,Martin Fritsch,Peter Grobe,Carsten Michael Heuer,Sabrina Kaul,Ole Sten Møller,Carsten H. G. Müller,Verena Rieger,Birgen H. Rothe,Martin E.J. Stegner,Steffen Harzsch +21 more
TL;DR: The use of revised neuroanatomical terminology in any new descriptions of the anatomy of invertebrate nervous systems will improve the comparability of this organ system and its substructures between the various taxa, and finally even lead to better and more robust homology hypotheses.
Journal ArticleDOI
Growth independent rhamnolipid production from glucose using the non-pathogenic Pseudomonas putida KT2440
Andreas Wittgens,Till Tiso,Torsten T Arndt,Pamela Wenk,Johannes Hemmerich,Carsten H. G. Müller,Rolf Wichmann,Benjamin Küpper,Michaela Zwick,Susanne Wilhelm,Rudolf Hausmann,Christoph Syldatk,Frank Rosenau,Frank Rosenau,Lars M. Blank +14 more
TL;DR: The metabolic engineering of a rhamnolipid producing Pseudomonas putida KT2440, a strain certified as safety strain using glucose as carbon source to avoid cumbersome product purification, is reported, finding a functional alternative to the pathogen P. aeruginosa.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevention of radiocontrast-media-induced nephropathy in patients with pre-existing renal insufficiency by hydration in combination with the adenosine antagonist theophylline.
Christiane M. Erley,Stephan H. Duda,D Rehfuss,B Scholtes,J Bock,Carsten H. G. Müller,Hartmut Osswald,Teut Risler +7 more
TL;DR: A role for adenosine is indicated in CM-induced tubulotoxicity in well-hydrated patients with mild-to-moderate renal insufficiency, but the glomerular filtration rate is preserved by hydration alone in these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
The baffled microtiter plate: increased oxygen transfer and improved online monitoring in small scale fermentations.
TL;DR: This study investigates how baffling and the well geometry affect the maximum oxygen transfer capacity (OTRmax) in microtiter plates and shows a six‐petal flower‐shaped well geometry was shown to be the optimal solution taking into account all aforementioned criteria.
Journal ArticleDOI
Robo-Lector - a novel platform for automated high-throughput cultivations in microtiter plates with high information content
Robert Huber,Daniel Ritter,Till Hering,Anne-Kathrin Hillmer,Frank Kensy,Carsten H. G. Müller,Le Wang,Jochen Büchs +7 more
TL;DR: The Robo-Lector generates extensive kinetic data in high-throughput cultivations, particularly for biomass and fluorescence protein formation, and can be combined with small-scale downstream processing techniques and analytical assays.
