Journal ArticleDOI

Stiripentol in severe myoclonic epilepsy in infancy: a randomised placebo-controlled syndrome-dedicated trial

TL;DR: A controlled trial shows the antiepileptic efficacy, of add-on stiripentol in children with SMEI, and provides good reason to focus studies on a specific epilepsy syndrome.
Journal Article

Changes in regional cerebral blood flow during brain maturation in children and adolescents.

TL;DR: Cognitive development of the child seems to be related to changes in blood flow of the corresponding brain regions, which was studied by SPECT using 133Xe in 42 children considered as neurologically normal.
Journal ArticleDOI

The right brain hemisphere is dominant in human infants.

TL;DR: The development of functional brain asymmetry during childhood is confirmed by changes in cerebral blood flow measured at rest using dynamic single photon emission computed tomography, which supports the hypothesis that, in man, the right hemisphere develops its functions earlier than the left.
Journal ArticleDOI

Late plasticity for language in a child's non-dominant hemisphere: a pre- and post-surgery fMRI study.

TL;DR: This first serial fMRI study illustrates the great plasticity of the child's brain and the ability of the right hemisphere to take over some expressive language functions, even at a relatively late age and suggests a limit for removal of the dominant hemisphere beyond the age of 6 years, a classical limit for the critical period of language acquisition.
