Journal ArticleDOI
Validation of the 2 x 24 Hour Recall method and a 7-day Web-based food diary against doubly labeled water in Danish adults.
Anja Pia Biltoft-Jensen,Karin Hess Ygil,Lenette Knudsen,Jeppe Matthiessen,Sisse Fagt,Ellen Trolle,Trine Nielsen,Diane Mcintosh Hansen,Cecilie Löe Licht,Maurice Martens,Catherine Hambly,John R. Speakman,Tue Christensen +12 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors compared the 2x24-hour diet recall (2x24hDR) method and physical activity (PA) measurements for national dietary surveys in Denmark.
Journal ArticleDOI
An Observational Case Series Measuring the Energy Expenditure of Elite Tennis Players During Competition and Training by Using Doubly Labeled Water.
Daniel G Ellis,John R. Speakman,Catherine Hambly,James P. Morton,Graeme L. Close,Timothy F. Donovan +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper , an observational case series assessed the total daily energy expenditure (TEE) of elite tennis players during high-level competition using doubly labeled water method, which included training, Wimbledon Championships, WTA/ATP International Tournaments, Junior/Senior International Tennis Federation, and Wimbledon Junior Championships.
Journal ArticleDOI
Disentangling the effects of obesity and high-fat diet on glucose homeostasis using a photoperiod induced obesity model implicates ectopic fat deposition as a key factor
TL;DR: This paper showed that exposure to long photoperiod (LD: 16L: 8D) induces obesity even when they are fed a low-fat diet and showed that these voles are largely resistant to HFD.
Journal ArticleDOI
The effects of graded levels of calorie restriction: XX. impact of long term graded calorie restriction on survival and body mass dynamics in male C57BL/6J mice.
Sharon E. Mitchell,Jacques Togo,Cara L Green,Davina Derous,Catherine Hambly,John R. Speakman +5 more
TL;DR: In this article , the authors evaluated the overall changes in survival, body mass dynamics, and body composition following long-term graded calorie restriction (580 days/19 months) in male C57BL/6J mice.
Journal ArticleDOI
Total daily energy expenditure has declined over the past three decades due to declining basal expenditure, not reduced activity expenditure
