Journal ArticleDOI
A functional regulatory variant of MYH3 influences muscle fiber-type composition and intramuscular fat content in pigs
In-Cheol Cho,Hee-Bok Park,Jin Seop Ahn,Sang-Hyun Han,Jae-Bong Lee,Hyun-Tae Lim,Chae-Kyoung Yoo,Eun-Ji Jung,Dong-Hwan Kim,Dong-Hwan Kim,Wu-Sheng Sun,Yuliaxis Ramayo-Caldas,Sang-Geum Kim,Yong-Jun Kang,Yoo-Kyung Kim,Hyun-Sook Shin,Pil-Nam Seong,In-Sul Hwang,Beom-Young Park,Seongsoo Hwang,Sung-Soo Lee,Youn-Chul Ryu,Jun Heon Lee,Moon-Suck Ko,Kichoon Lee,Göran Andersson,Miguel Pérez-Enciso,Miguel Pérez-Enciso,Jeong-Woong Lee,Jeong-Woong Lee +29 more
TL;DR: A functional regulatory sequence variant in porcine MYH3 is identified that provides novel insights into the genetic basis of the regulation of myofiber type ratios and associated changes in IMF in pigs and can play an important role in improving pork quality in current breeding programs.
Journal ArticleDOI
QTL analysis of white blood cell, platelet and red blood cell‐related traits in an F2 intercross between Landrace and Korean native pigs
In-Cheol Cho,Hee-Bok Park,Chae-Kyoung Yoo,G. J. Lee,Hyun-Tae Lim,Joon-Hee Lee,Eun-Ji Jung,Moon-Suck Ko,Jong-Hyeon Lee,Jin-Tae Jeon +9 more
TL;DR: This study identified both previously reported and novel QTL affecting baseline haematological parameters in pigs and the positional candidate genes identified here could play an important role in elucidating the genetic architecture of haem atological phenotype variation in swine and in humans.
Journal ArticleDOI
The robust phylogeny of Korean wild boar (Sus scrofa coreanus) using partial D-loop sequence of mtDNA
In-Cheol Cho,Sang-Hyun Han,Meiying Fang,Sung-Soo Lee,Moon-Suck Ko,Hang Lee,Hyun-Tae Lim,Chae-Kyoung Yoo,Jun Heon Lee,Jin-Tae Jeon +9 more
TL;DR: Data suggest that Korean native pigs would be introduced from China after domestication from Chinese wild boars, in contrast to the expectation that Korean wild boar contributed to the gene pool of Koreannative pigs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genome-wide QTL analysis of meat quality-related traits in a large F2 intercross between Landrace and Korean native pigs
In-Cheol Cho,Chae-Kyoung Yoo,Jae-Bong Lee,Eun-Ji Jung,Sang-Hyun Han,Sung-Soo Lee,Moon-Suck Ko,Hyun-Tae Lim,Hee-Bok Park,Hee-Bok Park +9 more
TL;DR: A genome-wide linkage analysis to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) that influence meat quality-related traits in a large F2 intercross between Landrace and Korean native pigs confirmed several previously reported QTLs and identified novel QTL for meat quality traits.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of the gene encoding stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) with fatty acid composition in an intercross population between Landrace and Korean native pigs
Dyah Maharani,Dyah Maharani,Hee-Bok Park,Jae-Bong Lee,Chae-Kyoung Yoo,Hyun-Tae Lim,Sang-Hyun Han,Sung-Soo Lee,Moon-Suck Ko,In-Cheol Cho,Jun Heon Lee +10 more
TL;DR: Results suggest the stearoyl-CoA desaturase (SCD) gene has a strong effect on FA composition in the crossbred pig population.
