Journal ArticleDOI

On the mechanisms of precipitation of graphene on nickel thin films

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used transmission electron microscopy to analyse the precipitation process in detail, which appears to imply carbon diffusion over large distances and at least two distinct microscopic mechanisms.

Journal ArticleDOI

Iron Catalysts for the Growth of Carbon Nanofibers: Fe, Fe3C or Both?

TL;DR: In this article, the phase control of the phase of iron catalysts (α-Fe or Fe3C), obtained by varying the growth temperatures during the synthesis of carbon-based nanofibers/nanotubes in a plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition reactor, was studied.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis of few-layered graphene by ion implantation of carbon in nickel thin films

TL;DR: The results indicate that the number of graphene layers on top of Ni films is controlled by the nucleation process on the Ni surface rather than by the carbon content in the Ni film.
