Journal ArticleDOI

Design, manufacturing, and performance analysis of mid-infrared achromatic half-wave plates with diamond subwavelength gratings

TL;DR: This analysis shows that diamond, besides its outstanding physical and mechanical properties, is a suitable substrate to manufacture mid-infrared HWPs, thanks to its high refractive index, which allows etching SWGs with lower aspect ratio.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nulling interferometry: impact of exozodiacal clouds on the performance of future life-finding space missions

TL;DR: In this article, the impact of exozodiacal clouds on the performance of an infrared nulling interferometer in the Emma X-array configuration was evaluated using the DarwinSIM software.
Journal ArticleDOI

Improving interferometric null depth measurements using statistical distributions: theory and first results with the palomar fiber nuller

TL;DR: In this article, a self-calibrated statistical analysis method was developed for the reduction of nulling interferometry data, which uses the statistical distributions of the fluctuating null depth and beam intensities to retrieve the astrophysical null depth in the presence of fast atmospheric fluctuations.
