TL;DR: The content of compounds in potato that may act as antioxidants in the human diet is not widely appreciated as mentioned in this paper, however, potato is not a source of pro-vitamin A carotenes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prospective Validation of Standardized, 3-Dimensional, Quantitative Coronary Computed Tomographic Plaque Measurements Using Radiofrequency Backscatter Intravascular Ultrasound as Reference Standard in Intermediate Coronary Arterial Lesions: Results From the ATLANTA (Assessment of Tissue Characteristics, Lesion Morphology, and Hemodynamics by Angiography With Fractional Flow Reserve, Intravascular Ultrasound and Virtual Histology, and Noninvasive Computed Tomography in Atherosclerotic Plaques) I Study
Szilard Voros,Sarah Rinehart,Zhen Qian,Gustavo Vazquez,Hunt Anderson,Laura Murrieta,Charles Wilmer,Harold Carlson,Kenneth Taylor,William Ballard,Dimitri Karmpaliotis,Anna Kalynych,Charles R. Brown +12 more
TL;DR: This is the first validation that standardized, 3-dimensional, quantitative measurements of coronary plaque correlate with IVUS/VH, and mean differences are small, whereas limits of agreement are wide.
Journal ArticleDOI

Journal ArticleDOI
Breeding studies in potatoes containing high concentrations of anthocyanins
TL;DR: In this article, the breeding behavior of clones containing high levels of anthocyanins was studied and it was found that red and purple-fleshed progeny appeared in proportions suggesting multigenic control of degree of pigmentation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pigmented Potato Consumption Alters Oxidative Stress and Inflammatory Damage in Men
Kerrie L. Kaspar,Jean Soon Park,Charles R. Brown,Bridget D Mathison,Duroy A. Navarre,Boon P. Chew +5 more
TL;DR: Pigmented potato consumption reduced inflammation and DNA damage in healthy adult males and offers consumers an improved nutritional choice in potato consumption.
