Investigation of mechanical behaviour of amorphous aluminium nitride

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the mechanical properties of crystalline and amorphous aluminium nitride (a-AlN) under different loading modes and showed that the failure mechanisms are very different in both crystalline AlN and polysilicon AlN.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alternative designs of load−sharing cobalt chromium graded femoral stems

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the possibility of applying graded porous cobalt chromium (CoCr) to cementless femoral stems with four different grading orientations along the axial and radial planes of the femoral stem.
Journal ArticleDOI

Defective Graphene on the Transition-Metal Surface: Formation of Efficient Bifunctional Catalysts for Oxygen Evolution/Reduction Reactions in Alkaline Media.

TL;DR: First-principles calculations indicate that the DV-G on the Co(0001) surface can serve as an excellent bifunctional OER/ORR catalyst in alkaline media with extremely low overpotentials of 0.39 V for OER and only 0.36 V for ORR processes, which are even lower than those for previously reported bifunctionsal catalysts.
Journal ArticleDOI

Critical assessment of the local cleavage stress σ ƒ * in notch specimens of C-Mn steel

TL;DR: In this paper, an elastic-plastic finite element method (FEM) was used to calculate the stress and strain distributions ahead of notches with various root radii in a bending specimen of C-Mn steel with grain sizes of 10 and 30 μm.
