Journal ArticleDOI
Overcoming Efficiency Limitations of SnS‐Based Solar Cells
Prasert Sinsermsuksakul,Leizhi Sun,Sang Woon Lee,Helen Hejin Park,Sang Bok Kim,Chuanxi Yang,Roy G. Gordon +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, loss mechanisms are systematically investigated and mitigated in solar cells based on p-type tin monosulfide, SnS, absorber layers combined with n-type zinc oxysulfide and Zn(O,S) layers that selectively transmit electrons, but block holes.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hybrid photon-plasmon nanowire lasers
Xiaoqin Wu,Yao Xiao,Chao Meng,Xining Zhang,Shaoliang Yu,Yipei Wang,Chuanxi Yang,Xin Guo,Cun-Zheng Ning,Limin Tong +9 more
TL;DR: This device simultaneously provides spatially separated photonic far-field output and highly localized coherent plasmon modes with sub-diffraction-limited beam size.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transient terahertz photoconductivity measurements of minority-carrier lifetime in tin sulfide thin films: Advanced metrology for an early stage photovoltaic material
Rafael Jaramillo,Meng-Ju Sher,Benjamin K. Ofori-Okai,Vera Steinmann,Chuanxi Yang,Katy Hartman,Keith A. Nelson,Aaron M. Lindenberg,Aaron M. Lindenberg,Roy G. Gordon,Tonio Buonassisi +10 more
TL;DR: In this article, the minority-carrier lifetime remains below 100 ps for all tested combinations of growth technique and post-growth processing, and thermal annealing in H2S gas increases the minority carrier lifetime, and oxidation of the surface reduces the surface recombination velocity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Framework to predict optimal buffer layer pairing for thin film solar cell absorbers: A case study for tin sulfide/zinc oxysulfide
Niall M. Mangan,Riley E. Brandt,Vera Steinmann,Rafael Jaramillo,Chuanxi Yang,Jeremy R. Poindexter,Rupak Chakraborty,Helen Hejin Park,Xizhu Zhao,Roy G. Gordon,Tonio Buonassisi +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors simulate the photovoltaic device performance of various n-type contact material pairings with tin(II) sulfide (SnS), a p-type absorber.
Journal ArticleDOI
Making Record-efficiency SnS Solar Cells by Thermal Evaporation and Atomic Layer Deposition.
Rafael Jaramillo,Vera Steinmann,Chuanxi Yang,Katy Hartman,Rupak Chakraborty,Jeremy R. Poindexter,Mariela Lizet Castillo,Roy G. Gordon,Tonio Buonassisi +8 more
TL;DR: The fabrication procedure for these record solar cells is described, the statistical distribution of the fabrication process is reported, and a system for high throughput measurements of current-voltage curves under simulated solar light, and external quantum efficiency measurement with variable light bias is described.
