Journal ArticleDOI

Selection of appropriate reference genes for gene expression studies by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction in cucumber

TL;DR: TUA, UBI-ep, and EF1alpha will be particularly helpful for reliable QRT-PCR data normalization in these types of samples, and guidelines for selecting different reference genes under different conditions are provided.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification and characterization of potential NBS-encoding resistance genes and induction kinetics of a putative candidate gene associated with downy mildew resistance in Cucumis.

TL;DR: Four classes of NBS-type RGAs were successfully isolated from IL5211S, and the possible involvement of CSRGA23 in the active defense response to P. cubensis was demonstrated, indicating that CSR GA23 may play a critical role in protecting cucumber against P. Cubensis through a signaling the pathway triggered by these molecules.
Journal ArticleDOI

Cucumis monosomic alien addition lines: morphological, cytological, and genotypic analyses.

TL;DR: Cytogenetic and molecular marker analyses were performed to confirm the genetic constitution and further characterize these two monosomic alien addition lines (MAALs) and confirm that the alien chromosomes present in the MAALs were derived from C. hystrix chromosomes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Flexible chromosome painting based on multiplex PCR of oligonucleotides and its application for comparative chromosome analyses in Cucumis

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the probe was feasible to detect inter-species chromosome homoeologous relationships and chromosomal rearrangement events and it is anticipated that this flexible oligo-painting technique has great potential for the studies of the structure, organization, and evolution of chromosomes in any species with a sequenced genome.
Journal ArticleDOI

Inheritance and mapping of the ore gene controlling the quantity of β-carotene in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) endocarp

TL;DR: An evaluation of 30 genetically diverse cucumber lines indicated that marker SSR07706 has utility in further genetic analyses of the QβC orange endocarp gene, designated ore, and may have utility for marker-assisted selection directed towards the development of cucumber germplasm with high fruit β-carotene content.
