Systematics: Sequences lead to tree of worms

Claus J. Nielsen
- 01 Mar 1998 -
TL;DR: In this article, the sequences of small subunit ribosomal DNA from 53 species of Nematode worms were analyzed and the evolution of parasitism was investigated. But they have been notoriously difficult to classify, phylogenetically speaking, because they have few distinguishing characteristics.
Journal ArticleDOI

New Emivirine (MKC-442) Analogues Containing a Tetrahydronaphthalene at C-6 and their Anti-HIV Activity

TL;DR: In this paper, a 5-ethyl-2-thiouracil derivative with a 6-(tetrahydronaphthalen-1-yl)methyl substituent was synthesized by condensation of thiourea with an adequate β-ketoester.
Journal ArticleDOI

A Sampling Line Artifact in Stack Emission Measurement of Alkanolamine-enabled Carbon Capture Facility: Surface Reaction of Amines with Formaldehyde

TL;DR: In this article, Schiff-base condensation reactions between primary amines and formaldehyde were observed to occur on the ∼110 m long inlet line that connects the absorber stack of the amine-based PCCC facility at Mongstad to the FT-IR and PTR-ToF-MS emission monitors.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synergistic antiviral effect in vitro of azidothymidine and amphotericin B methyl ester in combination on HIV infection.

TL;DR: Results indicate that a combination therapy employing compounds with different modes of action like AZT and AME may have synergistic antiviral properties and should not be used as an antifungal agent in cultures intended to propagate HIV.
