Journal ArticleDOI

Pentraxin 3: A Novel Biomarker for Predicting Progression from Prostatic Inflammation to Prostate Cancer

TL;DR: PTX3 tissue expression and serum concentration are evaluated as a biomarker to discriminate prostatic inflammation and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) from prostate cancer, and whether PTX3 status may predict progression from BPH to prostate cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI

Collagen-functionalised electrospun polymer fibers for bioengineering applications

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the largest amount of proteins adsorbed on fibers does not determine the best performance in terms of cell attachment and proliferation in vitro, which is instead related to the type of linking and the relevant role played by adsorption of serum biomolecules on the three-dimensional nanostructures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interplay between SOX9, β-catenin and PPARγ activation in colorectal cancer

TL;DR: Ligand-dependent PPARγ activation unevenly influences SOX9 and β-catenin expression and subcellular localization in the colon cancer cell lines examined, suggesting a variable mechanistic role in colon carcinogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Identification of GLA gene deletions in Fabry patients by Multiplex Ligation-dependent Probe Amplification (MLPA)

TL;DR: Two novel different deletions were detected using MLPA assay on two Fabry patients, both resulted mutation negative by sequencing analysis, suggesting that this screening should be systematically included in genetic testing surveys of patients with Fabry disease.
