Journal ArticleDOI
Atheroprotective roles of smooth muscle cell phenotypic modulation and the TCF21 disease gene as revealed by single-cell analysis
Robert C. Wirka,Robert C. Wirka,Dhananjay Wagh,David T. Paik,David T. Paik,Milos Pjanic,Milos Pjanic,Trieu Nguyen,Trieu Nguyen,Clint L. Miller,Ramen Kundu,Ramen Kundu,Manabu Nagao,Manabu Nagao,John A. Coller,Tiffany K Koyano,Robyn Fong,Y. Joseph Woo,Boxiang Liu,Stephen B. Montgomery,Joseph C. Wu,Joseph C. Wu,Kuixi Zhu,Rui Chang,Melissa Alamprese,Michelle D. Tallquist,Juyong Brian Kim,Juyong Brian Kim,Thomas Quertermous,Thomas Quertermous +29 more
TL;DR: A protective role for both TCF21 and SMC phenotypic modulation in this disease is established and these cells transform into unique fibroblast-like cells, termed ‘fibromyocytes’, rather than into a classical macrophage phenotype.
Journal ArticleDOI
CD47-blocking antibodies restore phagocytosis and prevent atherosclerosis
Yoko Kojima,Jens-Peter Volkmer,Mckenna Kelly Marie,Mete Civelek,Aldons J. Lusis,Clint L. Miller,Daniel Direnzo,Vivek Nanda,Jianqin Ye,Andrew J. Connolly,Eric E. Schadt,Thomas Quertermous,Paola Betancur,Lars Maegdefessel,Ljubica Perisic Matic,Ulf Hedin,Irving L. Weissman,Nicholas J. Leeper +17 more
TL;DR: It is found that administration of CD47-blocking antibodies reverses this defect in efferocytosis, normalizes the clearance of diseased vascular tissue, and ameliorates atherosclerosis in multiple mouse models.
Journal ArticleDOI
Role of Ca2+/Calmodulin-Stimulated Cyclic Nucleotide Phosphodiesterase 1 in Mediating Cardiomyocyte Hypertrophy
Clint L. Miller,Masayoshi Oikawa,Yu-Jun Cai,Andrew P. Wojtovich,David J. Nagel,Xiangbin Xu,Haodong Xu,Vince Florio,Sergei D. Rybalkin,Joseph A. Beavo,Yiu Fai Chen,Jian Dong Li,Burns C. Blaxall,Jun Ichi Abe,Chen Yan +14 more
TL;DR: The results elucidate a novel role for Ca2+/CaM–stimulated PDE1, particularly Pde1A, in regulating pathological cardiomyocyte hypertrophy via a cGMP/PKG–dependent mechanism, thereby demonstrating Ca2-and-cGMP signaling cross-talk during cardiachypertrophy.

Using speech recognition to access the internet, including access via a telephone
Brian L. Scott,Clint L. Miller +1 more
TL;DR: In this article, a speech recognition system running synchronously with standard desktop-based Internet functions is described, which allows voice-based control to be exercised for all operations on the Internet.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor 2B regulates efferocytosis and atherosclerosis
Yoko Kojima,Kelly P. Downing,Ramendra K. Kundu,Clint L. Miller,Frederick E. Dewey,Hope L. Lancero,Uwe Raaz,Ljubica Perisic,Ulf Hedin,Eric E. Schadt,Lars Maegdefessel,Thomas Quertermous,Nicholas J. Leeper +12 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that loss of CDKN2B promotes atherosclerosis by increasing the size and complexity of the lipid-laden necrotic core through impaired efferocytosis.
