Developing Health Promotion Interventions on Social Networking Sites: Recommendations from The FaceSpace Project
Judy Gold,Alisa Pedrana,Mark Stoove,Shanton Chang,Steve Howard,Jason Asselin,Olivia Ilic,Colin Batrouney,Margaret Hellard +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the FaceSpace Project, a sexual health promotion intervention using social networking sites targeting two key at-risk groups, is described and recommended for developing and implementing health promotion interventions on these sites, including establishing a multidisciplinary team, allowing adequate time for obtaining approvals, securing sufficient resources for building and maintaining an online presence, and developing an integrated process and impact evaluation framework.
Journal ArticleDOI
Effect of availability of HIV self-testing on HIV testing frequency in gay and bisexual men at high risk of infection (FORTH): a waiting-list randomised controlled trial
Muhammad S Jamil,Garrett Prestage,Christopher K Fairley,Andrew E. Grulich,Kirsty S Smith,Marcus Y Chen,Martin Holt,Anna McNulty,Benjamin R Bavinton,Damian P. Conway,Damian P. Conway,Handan Wand,Phillip Keen,Jack Bradley,Johann Kolstee,Colin Batrouney,Darren Russell,Matthew Law,John M. Kaldor,Rebecca Guy +19 more
TL;DR: HIV self-testing resulted in a two times increase in frequency of testing in gay and bisexual men at high risk of infection, and a nearly four times increased in non-recent testers, compared with standard care, without reducing the frequency of facility-based HIV testing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Physical Distancing Due to COVID-19 Disrupts Sexual Behaviors Among Gay and Bisexual Men in Australia: Implications for Trends in HIV and Other Sexually Transmissible Infections.
Mohamed A. Hammoud,Lisa Maher,Martin Holt,Louisa Degenhardt,Fengyi Jin,Dean Murphy,Benjamin R Bavinton,Andrew E. Grulich,Toby Lea,Bridget Haire,Adam Bourne,Peter Saxton,Stefanie Vaccher,Jeanne Ellard,Brent Mackie,Colin Batrouney,Nicky Bath,Garrett Prestage +17 more
TL;DR: GBM in Australia have dramatically reduced their sexual contacts with other men since COVID-19, and these behavioural changes will likely result in short-term reductions in new HIV and STI diagnoses.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alisa Pedrana,Margaret Hellard,Judy Gold,Nadine Ata,Shanton Chang,Steve Howard,Jason Asselin,Olivia Ilic,Colin Batrouney,Mark Stoove +9 more
TL;DR: QAF offers a successful example of exploiting the reach, interactivity, and engagement potential of SNS; findings from this process evaluation provide a model to inform the delivery and evaluation of future health promotion interventions on SNS.
