Journal ArticleDOI
Activation of HIV transcription with short-course vorinostat in HIV-infected patients on suppressive antiretroviral therapy.
Julian Elliott,Fiona Wightman,Ajantha Solomon,Khader Ghneim,Jeffrey D. Ahlers,Mark J. Cameron,Miranda Zoe Denham Smith,Tim Spelman,James H McMahon,Pushparaj Velayudham,Gregor J. Brown,Janine Roney,Jo Watson,Miles Prince,Jennifer F Hoy,Nicolas Chomont,Rémi Fromentin,Francesco A. Procopio,Joumana Zeidan,Sarah Palmer,Lina Odevall,Ricky W. Johnstone,Ben P. Martin,Elizabeth Sinclair,Steven G. Deeks,Daria J. Hazuda,Paul U. Cameron,Rafick-Pierre Sekaly,Sharon R Lewin +28 more
TL;DR: Vorinostat induced a significant and sustained increase in HIV transcription from latency in the majority of HIV-infected patients, however, additional interventions will be needed to efficiently induce virus production and ultimately eliminate latently infected cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Defining secondary progressive multiple sclerosis.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors evaluated the accuracy and feasibility of an objective definition for secondary progressive multiple sclerosis, to enable comparability of future research studies, using MSBase, a large, prospectively acquired, global cohort study, and analyzed the accuracy of 576 data-derived onset definitions for SPM and compared these to a consensus opinion of three neurologists.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Among gay and bisexual men using PrEP, STIs were highly concentrated among a subset, and receipt of PrEP after study enrollment was associated with an increased incidence of STIs compared with preenrollment, highlighting the importance of frequent STI testing.
Journal ArticleDOI
Galactomannan and PCR versus culture and histology for directing use of antifungal treatment for invasive aspergillosis in high-risk haematology patients: a randomised controlled trial
Orla Morrissey,Orla Morrissey,Sharon C.-A. Chen,Sharon C.-A. Chen,Sharon C.-A. Chen,Tania C. Sorrell,Tania C. Sorrell,Tania C. Sorrell,Sam Milliken,Peter G Bardy,Kenneth F. TL;DR: Use of aspergillus galactomannan and PCR to direct treatment reduced use of empirical antifungal treatment in high-risk haematology patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Timing of high-efficacy therapy for multiple sclerosis: a retrospective observational cohort study.
Anna He,Bernd Merkel,James William L Brown,James William L Brown,James William L Brown,Lana Zhovits Ryerson,Ilya Kister,Charles B Malpas,Sifat Sharmin,Dana Horakova,Eva Havrdova,Tim Spelman,Guillermo Izquierdo,Sara Eichau,Maria Trojano,Alessandra Lugaresi,Raymond Hupperts,Patrizia Sola,Diana Ferraro,Jan Lycke,Francois Grand'Maison,Alexandre Prat,Marc Girard,Pierre Duquette,Catherine Larochelle,Anders Svenningsson,Thor Petersen,Pierre Grammond,Franco Granella,Vincent Van Pesch,Vincent Van Pesch,Roberto Bergamaschi,Christopher McGuigan,Alasdair Coles,Jan Hillert,Fredrik Piehl,Helmut Butzkueven,Helmut Butzkueven,Tomas Kalincik,Tomas Kalincik +39 more
TL;DR: High-efficacy therapy commenced within 2 years of disease onset is associated with less disability after 6-10 years than when commenced later in the disease course, which can inform decisions regarding optimal sequence and timing of multiple sclerosis therapy.
