Terahertz Technologies to Deliver Optical Network Quality of Experience in Wireless Systems Beyond 5G.

TL;DR: In this article, the basic system architecture for terahertz (THz) wireless links with bandwidths of more than 50 GHz into optical networks is discussed, and two possible electro-optical baseband interface architectures, namely transparent optical-link and digital-link architectures, which are currently under investigation.
Proceedings Article

Demonstration of a Spatial Super Channel Switching SDM Network Node on a Field Deployed 15-Mode Fiber Network

TL;DR: In this paper , a high spatial spectral efficiency SDM ROADM operating on a field-deployed 15-mode fiber network is demonstrated, and the authors evaluate spatial super channel switching scenarios for full add&drop, full express, partial add drop, and optical bypass with a granularity of 5 Tb/s.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Co-Packaged 107 Gb/s photoreceiver for direct detection comprising InP-based pinTWA and DEMUX

TL;DR: In this article, a monolithic integrated InP-based pinTWA photoreceiver OEIC, co-packaged with DHBT-DEMUX chips for 100 GbE transmission concepts is presented.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Distributed coherent optical OFDM multiplexing using fiber frequency conversion and free-running lasers

TL;DR: In this article, a distributed coherent optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing by fiber-frequency conversion for locally-defined exact channel mapping based on free-running lasers is proposed, and experiments with quadrature phase shift keying and 16-quadrature-amplitude modulation subchannels show error-free performance.
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Coherent ONU Designs for 50 Gb/s/λ PON

TL;DR: The recent compelling research activities in low-complexity coherent PONs are reviewed, and their feasibility for 50 Gb/s/λ is investigated.
