Plasma Micro-Nanotextured, Scratch, Water and Hexadecane Resistant, Superhydrophobic, and Superamphiphobic Polymeric Surfaces with Perfluorinated Monolayers

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that stable organic monolayers can be grafted onto all these textured polymeric surfaces and provides a simple and generic method to obtain superamphiphobicity on polymers toward superoleophobicity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Toxicity determinants of multi-walled carbon nanotubes: The relationship between functionalization and agglomeration.

TL;DR: In this article, two optimized chemical vapor deposition methods were employed to obtain MWCNTs of comparable length but different diameter, which were subsequently functionalized and found to have a stronger tendency to agglomerate that was strictly dependent on the presence of proteins.
Journal ArticleDOI

Carbon nanotube/polymer nanocomposites: A study on mechanical integrity through nanoindentation

TL;DR: In this paper, the properties of polymer composites, reinforced with multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and single wall carbon nano-connections (SWCNT), have been studied using the nanoindentation and nanoscratch technique.
Journal ArticleDOI

Surface functionalization of carbon fibers with active screen plasma

TL;DR: In this article, the active screen plasma technology was used to functionalize carbon fibers and vitreous carbon disks, and the functionalized surfaces were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and contact angle measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Tensile and microindentation properties of maxillofacial elastomers after different disinfecting procedures.

TL;DR: Evaluated mechanical behavior of two maxillofacial elastomers after application of four different disinfection procedures found PDMS affected less from the commercial antimicrobial agent and CPE from neutral soap, which seems to be the most suitable disinfection techniques.
