Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in air quality during the lockdown in Barcelona (Spain) one month into the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic.
Aurelio Tobias,Cristina Carnerero,Cristina Reche,Jordi Massagué,Marta Via,María Cruz Minguillón,Andrés Alastuey,Xavier Querol +7 more
TL;DR: After two weeks of lockdown, urban air pollution markedly decreased but with substantial differences among pollutants, and there are still open questions on why PM10 levels were much less reduced than BC and NO2 and on what is the proportion of the abatement of pollution directly related to the lockdown, without meteorological interferences.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vertical and horizontal distribution of regional new particle formation events in Madrid
Cristina Carnerero,Cristina Carnerero,Noemí Pérez,Cristina Reche,Marina Ealo,Gloria Titos,Hong-Ku Lee,Hee-Ram Eun,Yong-Hee Park,Lubna Dada,Pauli Paasonen,Veli-Matti Kerminen,Enrique Mantilla,Miguel Escudero,Francisco J. Gómez-Moreno,Elisabeth Alonso-Blanco,Esther Coz,Alfonso Saiz-Lopez,Brice Temime-Roussel,Nicolas Marchand,David C. S. Beddows,Roy M. Harrison,Roy M. Harrison,Tuukka Petäjä,Markku Kulmala,Kang-Ho Ahn,Andrés Alastuey,Xavier Querol +27 more
TL;DR: The vertical profile of new particle formation (NPF) events was studied by comparing the aerosol size number distributions measured aloft and at surface level in a suburban environment in Madrid, Spain, using airborne instruments as discussed by the authors.
Journal ArticleDOI
2005-2017 ozone trends and potential benefits of local measures as deduced from air quality measurements in the north of the Barcelona metropolitan area
Jordi Massagué,Jordi Massagué,Cristina Carnerero,Cristina Carnerero,Miguel Escudero,José María Baldasano,Andrés Alastuey,Xavier Querol +7 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed the potential benefits of implementing local-BMA short-term measures to abate emissions of O3 precursors in the Vic Plain of the Barcelona metropolitan area.
Journal ArticleDOI
Relating high ozone, ultrafine particles, and new particle formation episodes using cluster analysis
Cristina Carnerero,Cristina Carnerero,Noemí Pérez,Tuukka Petäjä,Tiia Laurila,Lauri Ahonen,Jenni Kontkanen,Kang-Ho Ahn,Andrés Alastuey,Xavier Querol +9 more
TL;DR: In this paper, C. C. Carnerero et al. used tethered balloons for air quality monitoring in the XVPC air quality network and provided data for O 3, NOx and SO 2.
Journal ArticleDOI
Trends in primary and secondary particle number concentrations in urban and regional environments in NE Spain
Cristina Carnerero,Cristina Carnerero,Ioar Rivas,Cristina Reche,Noemí Pérez,Andrés Alastuey,Xavier Querol +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors analyzed long-term datasets of ambient air concentrations of gaseous pollutants, black carbon (BC) and particle size distributions at an urban background air quality station (Barcelona, Spain, 2013-2019) and a regional background station (Montseny, Spain; 2014-2019).
