Journal ArticleDOI

Dispersal of pristine graphene for biological studies

TL;DR: In this article, the authors address the conflicting behavior of different pristine graphene dispersions through their careful preparation and characterization in aqueous media, and establish the influence of pre-association with different dispersants, including those likely to be encountered during the transport and excretion of graphene in vivo.
Book ChapterDOI

Graphene: 2D-Building Block for Functional Nanocomposites

TL;DR: In this paper, a general introduction to the field of graphene and in particular of graphene-based composites is presented and the opportunities for achieving novel high performance composite materials with enhanced properties are highlighted and the challenges to be overcome discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-Power Energy Storage from Carbon Electrodes Using Highly Acidic Electrolytes

TL;DR: In this article, the authors take inspiration from the electrode-electrolyte interaction in supercapacitors and use carbon as the electrode material in super-capacitor cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Processing route to disentangle multi-walled carbon nanotube towards ceramic composite.

TL;DR: The results evidenced that mechanical sonication was insufficient for disentangling the ropes, whereas, the combined action of mild sonication in an ultrasonic bath with the addition of gum arabic to an aqueous suspension containing nanotubes improved the exfoliating performance.
Journal ArticleDOI

Review: Frontiers of materials science and engineering

TL;DR: The 2nd Global Conference on Materials Science and Engineering (GCME) as mentioned in this paper was held on November 20-22, 2013, where more than 200 attendees discussed the frontiers of materials science and engineering.
