Disruptions in JET
J.A. Wesson,R. D. Gill,M. Hugon,F. C. Schüller,Joseph Snipes,D.J. Ward,D.V. Bartlett,David Campbell,P. A. Duperrex,A.W. Edwards,Robert Granetz,N. Gottardi,T. C. Hender,E. Lazzaro,P. J. Lomas,N.J. Lopes Cardozo,K. F. Mast,M. F. F. Nave,Neil A. Salmon,P. Smeulders,P.R. Thomas,B.J.D. Tubbing,M.F. Turner,A. Weller +23 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a two-stage MHD instability, where the first stage is caused by a loss of energy from the central region and the second stage is due to an increase in impurity radiation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Plasma confinement in JET H?mode plasmas with H, D, DT and T isotopes
J.G. Cordey,B. Balet,D.V. Bartlett,Robert Budny,J.P. Christiansen,G. D. Conway,L.-G. Eriksson,G.M. Fishpool,C. Gowers,J.C.M. de Haas,P.J. Harbour,L. D. Horton,A. Howman,J. Jacquinot,Wolfgang Kerner,C.G. Lowry,R.D. Monk,P. Nielsen,E. Righi,F.G. Rimini,G. Saibene,R. Sartori,B. Schunke,A. C. C. Sips,Richard J.H. Smith,M.F. Stamp,D.F.H. Start,K. Thomsen,B.J.D. Tubbing,M. von Hellermann +29 more
TL;DR: In this article, the scaling of the energy confinement in H mode plasmas with different hydrogenic isotopes (hydrogen, deuterium, DT and tritium) is investigated in JET.
Journal ArticleDOI
Stabilization of sawteeth with additional heating in the JET tokamak.
David Campbell,D.F.H. Start,J.A. Wesson,D.V. Bartlett,V. Bhatnagar,M. Bures,J. G. Cordey,G.A. Cottrell,PA Dupperex,A.W. Edwards,C. D. Challis,C. Gormezano,C. Gowers,Robert Granetz,JH Hamnen,Torbjörn Hellsten,J Jacquinot,E. Lazzaro,P. J. Lomas,Lopes Cardozo N,P. Mantica,Joseph Snipes,D. Stork,P.E. Stott,P. R. Thomas,E. Thompson,K. Thomsen,G. Tonetti +27 more
TL;DR: Experiments in the JET tokamak with additional heating power above 5 MW show that the plasma can undergo a transition to a new regime and an improvement in the glogal energy confinement time of up to 20% is observed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Shear Reversal and Mhd Activity During Pellet Enhanced Performance Pulses in Jet
M. Hugon,B. Ph. van Milligen,P. Smeulders,L. C. Appel,D.V. Bartlett,D. Boucher,A.W. Edwards,L.-G. Eriksson,C. Gowers,T. C. Hender,G. T. A. Huysmans,J. Jacquinot,P. Kupschus,L. Porte,P.H. Rebut,D.F.H. Start,F. Tibone,B.J.D. Tubbing,M.L. Watkins,W. Zwingmann +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the position of rational surfaces associated with the safety factor q was determined from the analysis of MHD activity in pellet enhanced performance (PEP) pulses, and a transport simulation showed that the bootstrap current is driven by the steep density gradient, which results from improved confinement in the plasma core where the shear is negative.
Journal ArticleDOI

E. Righi,D.V. Bartlett,J.P. Christiansen,G. D. Conway,J.G. Cordey,L.-G. Eriksson,H.P.L. de Esch,G.M. Fishpool,C. Gowers,J.C.M. de Haas,P.J. Harbour,N. C. Hawkes,J. Jacquinot,T.T.C. Jones,Wolfgang Kerner,Q.A. King,C.G. Lowry,R.D. Monk,P. Nielsen,F.G. Rimini,G. Saibene,R. Sartori,B. Schunke,A. C. C. Sips,Richard J.H. Smith,M.F. Stamp,D.F.H. Start,K. Thomsen,B.J.D. Tubbing,N. Zornig +29 more
TL;DR: In this article, a series of dedicated experiments were carried out on JET in tritium, DT, deuterium and hydrogen plasmas to determine the dependence of the H mode power threshold on the plasma isotopic mass.
