Drug Resistance Mutations for Surveillance of Transmitted HIV-1 Drug-Resistance: 2009 Update
Diane E Bennett,Ricardo Jorge Camacho,Dan Otelea,Daniel R. Kuritzkes,Hervé Fleury,Mark Kiuchi,Walid Heneine,Rami Kantor,Michael R. Jordan,Jonathan M. Schapiro,Anne-Mieke Vandamme,Paul Sandstrom,Charles A. Boucher,Charles A. Boucher,David A. M. C. van de Vijver,Soo-Yon Rhee,Tommy F. Liu,Deenan Pillay,Robert W. Shafer +18 more
TL;DR: This paper follows the same procedures described previously to develop an updated list of SDRMs that are likely to be useful for ongoing and future studies of transmitted drug resistance and concludes that the updated SDRM list has 93 mutations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Polioviruses with natural recombinant genomes isolated from vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis.
TL;DR: The results presented in this paper suggest that recombination, alone or together with mutation, might be one of the mechanisms of the reversion toward neurovirulence of attenuated vaccine strains and of the natural evolution of poliovirus.
Journal ArticleDOI
Transmission of HIV Drug Resistance and the Predicted Effect on Current First-line Regimens in Europe
L. Marije Hofstra,Nicolas Sauvageot,Jan Albert,Jan Albert,Ivailo Alexiev,Federico García,Daniel Struck,David A. M. C. van de Vijver,Birgitta Åsjö,Danail Beshkov,Suzie Coughlan,Diane Descamps,Algirdas Griskevicius,Osamah Hamouda,Andrzej Horban,Marjo E. E. van Kasteren,Tatjana Kolupajeva,Leondios G. Kostrikis,Kirsi Liitsola,Marek Linka,Orna Mor,Claus Nielsen,Dan Otelea,Dimitrios Paraskevis,Roger Paredes,Mario Poljak,Elisabeth Puchhammer-Stöckl,Anders Sönnerborg,Anders Sönnerborg,Danica Staneková,Maja Stanojevic,Kristel Van Laethem,Maurizio Zazzi,Snjezana Zidovec Lepej,Charles A. Boucher,Jean-Claude Schmit,Annemarie M. J. Wensing +36 more
TL;DR: The impact of baseline mutation patterns on susceptibility to antiretroviral drugs and the impact on baseline susceptibility is largest for nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors.
Journal ArticleDOI
HIV-1 subtype distribution and its demographic determinants in newly diagnosed patients in Europe suggest highly compartmentalized epidemics
Ana B. Abecasis,Annemarie M. J. Wensing,D Paraskevis,Jurgen Vercauteren,Jurgen Vercauteren,Kristof Theys,David A. M. C. van de Vijver,Jan Albert,Jan Albert,Birgitta Åsjö,Claudia Balotta,Danail Beshkov,Ricardo Jorge Camacho,Bonaventura Clotet,Cillian De Gascun,Algis Griskevicius,Zehava Grossman,Osamah Hamouda,Andrzej Horban,Tatjana Kolupajeva,Klaus Korn,Leon G. Kostrikis,Claudia Kücherer,Kirsi Liitsola,Marek Linka,Claus Nielsen,Dan Otelea,Roger Paredes,Mario Poljak,Elisabeth Puchhammer-Stöckl,Jean-Claude Schmit,Anders Sönnerborg,Danika Stanekova,Maja Stanojevic,Daniel Struck,Charles A. Boucher,Anne-Mieke Vandamme,Anne-Mieke Vandamme +37 more
TL;DR: The association of subtype with demographic parameters suggests highly compartmentalized epidemics, determined by social and behavioural characteristics of the patients, suggests they acquired their infection there or in Europe from compatriots.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantification and molecular characterization of regulatory T cells in connective tissue diseases
Leontina Banica,Alina Besliu,Gina Cecilia Pistol,Crina Stavaru,Ruxandra Ionescu,A.M. Forsea,Cristina Tanaseanu,Sergiu Dumitrache,Dan Otelea,I. Tamsulea,S. Tanaseanu,Cristina Chitonu,Simona Paraschiv,Monica Balteanu,Maria Stefanescu,Cristiana Matache +15 more
TL;DR: Findings indicated dysregulations at the level of Treg cells and suggested an involvement of these cells in the pathology of connective tissue diseases, in agreement with the suggestion that T Reg cells could be therapeutic targets for some autoimmune diseases.
