A long-wavelength fluorescent substrate for continuous fluorometric determination of cellulase activity: resorufin-β-d-cellobioside

TL;DR: A simple and reliable continuous assay procedure for measurement of cellulase activity from several species using the new substrate resorufin-beta-D-cellobioside (Res-CB) has been developed.
Journal ArticleDOI

RXRα ablation in epidermal keratinocytes enhances UVR-induced DNA damage, apoptosis, and proliferation of keratinocytes and melanocytes.

TL;DR: It is shown here that keratinocytic nuclear receptor retinoid X receptor-α (RXRα) regulates mouse keratinocyte and melanocyte homeostasis following acute UVR, and that RXR antagonists, together with inhibitors of cell proliferation, can be effective in preventing solar UVR-induced photocarcinogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI

Coibamide A, a natural lariat depsipeptide, inhibits VEGFA/VEGFR2 expression and suppresses tumor growth in glioblastoma xenografts

TL;DR: Comparisons between coibamide A- and apratoxin A-induced changes in cell morphology, decreases in VEGFR2 expression and macroautophagy signaling in HUVECs raise the possibility that both cyanobacterial natural products share a common mechanism of action.
