Tryptophan-galactosylamine conjugates inhibit and disaggregate amyloid fibrils of Aβ42 and hIAPP peptides while reducing their toxicity

TL;DR: Paul et al. provide a rational design strategy to develop dual inhibitors, in the form of tryptophan-galactosylamine conjugates, against amyloid formation and aggregation of Aβ42 and hIAPP peptides, which potentially could serve as scaffolds for development of Alzheimer’s disease therapeutics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Differential effects of putative N-glycosylation sites in human Tau on Alzheimer's disease-related neurodegeneration

TL;DR: High-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis indicated that both N359 and N410 were N- glycosylated in wild-type (WT) human Tau ( h Tau) expressed in human SH-SY5Y cells.
Journal ArticleDOI

Genetics for improving biological control agents: the case of entomopathogenic nematodes

TL;DR: The success in genetic transformation of EPN opens the way for generating transgenic nematodes carrying genes conferring resistance to various environmental extremes.
Journal Article

Phenotypic and Genetic Analysis of a Mutant of Heterorhabditis bacteriophora Strain HP88.

TL;DR: Backcross with the original population was successful only between mutant hermaphrodites and wild type males; 50-100 percent of the progeny of this cross maintained thedumpy phenotype, indicating that the ratio between self- and external fertilization of the eggs is > 1 and that the dumpy mutation is recessive.
Journal ArticleDOI

Levels of Knowledge About Suicide Facts and Myths Among Younger and Older Adults
