Biology and Management of Weedy Root Parasites
Daniel M. Joel,Joseph Hershenhorn,Hanan Eizenberg,Radi Aly,Gebisa Ejeta,Patrick J. Rich,Joel K. Ransom,Joachim Sauerborn,Diego Rubiales +8 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Strigolactones’ Effect on Root Growth and Root-Hair Elongation May Be Mediated by Auxin-Efflux Carriers
Hinanit Koltai,Evgenia Dor,Joseph Hershenhorn,Daniel M. Joel,Smadar Weininger,Sivarama Lekalla,Hagit Shealtiel,Chaitali Bhattacharya,Einat Eliahu,Nathalie Resnick,Rivka Barg,Yoram Kapulnik +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that strigolactones interfere with the inhibitory effect of exogenously applied auxin on root elongation, and its effect on root growth and root-hair elongation appears to be mediated via an effect on auxin-efflux carriers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Screening techniques and sources of resistance against parasitic weeds in grain legumes
Diego Rubiales,Alejandro Pérez-de-Luque,Mónica Fernández-Aparico,Josefina C. Sillero,Belen Roman,Mohamed Kharrat,Shaban Khalil,Daniel M. Joel,Charles R. Riches +8 more
TL;DR: This work has shown that the combination of different resistance mechanisms into a single cultivar will provide durable resistance in the field and can be facilitated by the use of invitro screening methods that allow highly heritable resistance components to be identified, together with adoption of marker-assisted selection techniques.
Journal ArticleDOI
A tomato strigolactone-impaired mutant displays aberrant shoot morphology and plant interactions
Hinanit Koltai,Sivarama P. LekKala,Chaitali Bhattacharya,Einav Mayzlish-Gati,Nathalie Resnick,Smadar Wininger,Evgenya Dor,Kaori Yoneyama,Koichi Yoneyama,Joseph Hershenhorn,Daniel M. Joel,Yoram Kapulnik +11 more
TL;DR: Characterization of the first tomato strigolactone-deficient mutant supports the putative general role of striglactones as messengers of suppression of lateral shoot branching in a diversity of plant species.
Journal ArticleDOI
Histochemical Localization of Citral Accumulation in Lemongrass Leaves (Cymbopogon citratus (DC.) Stapf., Poaceae)
Efraim Lewinsohn,Nativ Dudai,Yaakov Tadmor,Irena Katzir,Uzi Ravid,Eli Putievsky,Daniel M. Joel +6 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that citral accumulation takes place in individual oil cells within the leaf tissues, and that this takes place adjacent to non-photosynthetic tissue, and between vascular bundles.
