Journal ArticleDOI

The road towards polaritonic devices

TL;DR: The most important features of exciton-polaritons in microcavities are reviewed, with a particular emphasis on the emerging technological applications, the use of new materials for room-temperature operation, and the possibility of exploiting polaritons for quantum computation and simulation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Collective fluid dynamics of a polariton condensate in a semiconductor microcavity

TL;DR: Using a coherent excitation triggered by a short optical pulse, a macroscopically degenerate state of polaritons are created that can be made to collide with a variety of defects present in the microcavity and opens the way to the investigation of new phenomenology of out-of-equilibrium condensates.
Journal ArticleDOI

Spontaneous formation and optical manipulation of extended polariton condensates

TL;DR: In this paper, a long-lived polariton condensates can propagate well beyond the area of their initial excitation while still maintaining spatial coherence, which enables direct and controllable manipulation of the condensate wavefunction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Polariton Superfluids Reveal Quantum Hydrodynamic Solitons

TL;DR: Using an interacting Bose gas of exciton-polaritons in a semiconductor microcavity, the transition from superfluidity to the hydrodynamic formation of oblique dark solitons and vortex streets in the wake of a potential barrier is reported.
