TL;DR: Evidence is provided that the MAPT +16 splice mutation cases from around the world analyzed in this study are indeed related and represent a single pedigree that probably originated in the North Wales area of the UK.
Journal ArticleDOI
An ultrastructural analysis of the effects of accumulation of neurofibrillary tangle in pyramidal neurons of the cerebral cortex in Alzheimer??s disease
TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of accumulation of neurofibrillary material on the fine structure of pyramidal cells in biopsy specimens of temporal cortex from nine patients with Alzheimer's disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Progressive anomia revisited: focal degeneration associated with progranulin gene mutation.
Julie S. Snowden,Stuart Pickering-Brown,Daniel du Plessis,Ian R. A. Mackenzie,Anoop Varma,David M. A. Mann,David Neary +6 more
TL;DR: The case of Newton, who presented with a progressive circumscribed anomia in association with focal left hemisphere atrophy, exemplifies the heterogeneity of clinical expression of FTLD and contributes to understanding of primary progressive aphasia.
Journal ArticleDOI
DNA repair in lymphocytes from young and old individuals and from patients with Alzheimer's disease.
TL;DR: Repairs of AD lymphocytes (hydroxyurea-treated) are examined by measuring [3H]thymidine incorporation after gamma-irradiation and found no difference in incorporation between AD and normal lymphocytes from age-matched individuals.
