Soft X-Ray Microscopy Radiation Damage On Fixed Cells Investigated With Synchrotron Radiation FTIR Microscopy
Alessandra Gianoncelli,Lisa Vaccari,George Kourousias,Damiano Cassese,Diana E. Bedolla,Saša Kenig,Paola Storici,Marco Lazzarino,Maya Kiskinova +8 more
TL;DR: Assessment of the impact of soft X-rays on formalin fixed cells on a systematic manner reveals that while cell morphology is not substantially affected, cellular biochemical profile changes significantly and progressively when increasing dose, resulting in a severe breakdown of the covalent bonding network.
Journal ArticleDOI
Contribution of Ribonucleic Acid (RNA) to the Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectrum of Eukaryotic Cells
Paolo Zucchiatti,Elisa Mitri,Saša Kenig,Fulvio Billè,George Kourousias,Diana E. Bedolla,Lisa Vaccari +6 more
TL;DR: It is proved that the spectral contribution centered at ∼1120 cm-1 is the most reliable indicator of variations in cellular RNA levels, that better correlates with cellular metabolic activity.
Journal ArticleDOI
Infrared based saliva screening test for COVID-19.
Bayden R. Wood,Bayden R. Wood,Kamila Kochan,Diana E. Bedolla,Diana E. Bedolla,Diana E. Bedolla,Natalia Salazar-Quiroz,Samantha L. Grimley,David Perez-Guaita,David Perez-Guaita,David Perez-Guaita,Matthew J. Baker,Jitraporn Vongsvivut,Mark J. Tobin,Keith R. Bambery,Dale Christensen,Shivani Pasricha,Anthony K Eden,Aaron Lawson McLean,Supti Roy,Jason A. Roberts,Julian Druce,Deborah A Williamson,Deborah A Williamson,Julie L. McAuley,Mike Catton,Damian F. J. Purcell,Dale I. Godfrey,Dale I. Godfrey,Philip Heraud,Philip Heraud,Philip Heraud +31 more
TL;DR: In this article, a portable infrared spectrometer with purpose-built transflection accessory for rapid point-of-care detection of COVID-19 markers in saliva was proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Assessing the impacts of sewage sludge amendment containing nano-TiO2 on tomato plants: A life cycle study.
Mansi Bakshi,Mansi Bakshi,Clarisse Liné,Clarisse Liné,Diana E. Bedolla,Ricardo J. Stein,Ralf Kaegi,Géraldine Sarret,Ana Elena Pradas del Real,Hiram Castillo-Michel,Purushothaman Chirakkuzhyil Abhilash,Camille Larue +11 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that the sewage sludge amendment containing nano-TiO2 increased plant growth, without causing changes in biochemical responses, except for a 43% decrease in leaf tannin concentration.
Journal ArticleDOI
In vitro FTIR microspectroscopy analysis of primary oral squamous carcinoma cells treated with cisplatin and 5-fluorouracil: a new spectroscopic approach for studying the drug-cell interaction.
Elisabetta Giorgini,Simona Sabbatini,Romina Rocchetti,Valentina Notarstefano,Corrado Rubini,Carla Conti,Giulia Orilisi,Elisa Mitri,Diana E. Bedolla,Lisa Vaccari +9 more
TL;DR: In vitro FTIRM analysis of primary oral squamous carcinoma cells evidenced a time-dependent drug-specific cellular response, also including apoptosis triggering, and the univariate and multivariate analyses of IR data evidenced meaningful spectroscopic differences ascribable to alterations affecting cellular proteins, lipids and nucleic acids.
