Induction of Jasmonate Biosynthesis in Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Barley Roots
TL;DR: Analysis of temporal expression patterns showed the occurrence of transcript accumulation 4 to 6 d after the appearance of the first arbuscules, suggesting that the endogenous rise in jasmonates might be related to the fully established symbiosis rather than to the recognition of interacting partners or to the onset of interaction.
Journal ArticleDOI
New pathway to polyketides in plants
Stefan Eckermann,Gudrun Schröder,Jürgen Schmidt,Dieter Strack,R. A. Edrada,Yrjö Helariutta,Yrjö Helariutta,Paula Elomaa,Mika Kotilainen,Ilkka Kilpeläinen,Peter Proksch,Teemu H. Teeri,Joachim Schröder +12 more
TL;DR: A key enzyme in the ornamental plant Gerbera hybrida (Asteraceae) that participates in the biosynthesis of compounds that contribute to insect and pathogen resistance is identified.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antioxidant flavonoids from leaves of Polygonum hydropiper L.
Zhao Feng Peng,Dieter Strack,Alfred Baumert,R. Subramaniam,Ngoh Khang Goh,Tet Fatt Chia,Swee Ngin Tan,Lian Sai Chia +7 more
TL;DR: Evaluation of the antioxidative activity, conducted in vitro, by using electron spin resonance (ESR) and ultraviolet visible (UV-vis) spectrophotometric assays, showed that these isolated flavonoids possess strong antioxidative capabilities.
Journal ArticleDOI
The decisive step in betaxanthin biosynthesis is a spontaneous reaction1
TL;DR: The results indicate that the condensation of betalamic acid with amino acids (possibly including cyclo-Dopa or amines) in planta is a spontaneous, not an enzyme-catalyzed reaction.
