Journal ArticleDOI

How polluted is the Yangtze river? Water quality downstream from the Three Gorges Dam.

TL;DR: The enormous loads of anthropogenic pollutants disposed to the river were diluted by the large water discharge of the Yangtze even during the lowest flow resulting in the relatively low concentration levels of trace elements and organic pollutants observed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Abundance and conservation status of the Yangtze finless porpoise in the Yangtze River, China

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used two boats and line transect methods to survey the entire current range of the population, except for two lakes (Poyang and Dongting) and found that the population continues to decline and that its distribution is becoming more fragmented.
Journal ArticleDOI

Construction and Characterization of a Lipotes vexillifer Genomic DNA BAC Library

TL;DR: A genomic DNA library for Lipotes vexillifer, the Baiji or Yangtze River dolphin, one of the most endangered mammals in the world, is constructed, suggesting that this library is a valuable resource for candidate gene cloning, physical mapping, and genome sequencing of this important and threatened species.
Journal ArticleDOI

Occurrence of pharmaceuticals and personal care products and associated environmental risks in the central and lower Yangtze river, China.

TL;DR: Environmental risk assessment for the worst case scenario was assessed using calculated risk quotients, and indicates a high environmental risk of erythromycin and clarithromycin in the Yangtze River, clarithroscin in the Chao Lake, and clindamycin inThe Tai Lake.
