extrahypothalamic gabaergic nociceptin–expressing neurons regulate agrp neuron activity to control feeding behavior
Mark A. Smith,Agharul I. Choudhury,Justyna A. Glegola,paulius viskaitis,Elaine E. Irvine,pedro caldas custodio de campos silva,Sanjay Khadayate,Hanns Ulrich Zeilhofer,Hanns Ulrich Zeilhofer,Dominic J. Withers +9 more
TL;DR: It is shown that nociceptin-expressing neurons in the anterior bed nuclei of the stria terminalis (aBNST) make direct GABAergic inputs onto AgRP neurons, which may act as a gateway to feeding behavior by connecting Ag RP neurons to both homeostatic and nonhomeostatic neuronal inputs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regulation of anterior pituitary galanin and vasoactive intestinal peptide by oestrogen and prolactin status.
TL;DR: It appears that prolactin negatively regulates anterior pituitary galanin and VIP gene expression and content, probably due to a direct effect on the anterior pituitsary and by altered secretion of hypothalamic factors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Experimental analysis of risk factors for ulcerative dermatitis in mice
Brit Neuhaus,Carien M. Niessen,Andrea Mesaros,Dominic J. Withers,Thomas Krieg,Linda Partridge +5 more
TL;DR: It is shown that high‐fat diet (HFD) feeding significantly increased incidence of UD in wild type (WT) C57BL/6 mice, as did lithium‐mediated inhibition of GSK3‐β, which is a key negative regulator of IRS1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence that S6K1, but not 4E-BP1, mediates skeletal muscle pathology associated with loss of A-type lamins.
Chen-Yu Liao,Sydney S. Anderson,Nicole H. Chicoine,Jarrott R. Mayfield,Brittany J. Garrett,Charlotte S Kwok,Emmeline C. Academia,Yueh-Mei Hsu,Delana M Miller,Amanda M Bair,Joy A. Wilson,Gabriella Tannady,Erin M Stewart,Stuart S. Adamson,Junying Wang,Dominic J. Withers,Brian K. Kennedy,Brian K. Kennedy +17 more
TL;DR: Rapamycin-mediated lifespan extension in Lmna−/− mice is in part due to the improvement of skeletal muscle function and can be phenocopied by reduced S6K1 activity, but not 4E-BP1 activation.
Journal ArticleDOI
High fat diet causes distinct aberrations in the testicular proteome.
Sheba Jarvis,Lee A. Gethings,Luna Samanta,Luna Samanta,Silvia M.A. Pedroni,Dominic J. Withers,Nicola Gray,Robert S. Plumb,R. M. L. Winston,Catherine Williamson,Charlotte L. Bevan +10 more
TL;DR: This study focused mainly on the abnormalities that occurred at the protein level and as a result, several candidate proteins and pathway analysis around the effects of HF diet on the testis providing novel insights not previously described are identified.
