Comparative toxicity of trivalent and pentavalent inorganic and methylated arsenicals in rat and human cells.
Miroslav Styblo,L.M. Del Razo,Libia Vega,Dori R. Germolec,Edward L. LeCluyse,G. Hamilton,W Reed,Changqing Wang,William R. Cullen,David J. Thomas +9 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that trivalent methylated arsenicals, intermediary products of arsenic methylation, may significantly contribute to the adverse effects associated with exposure to iAs, and high methylation capacity does not protect cells from the acute toxicity of triavalent arsenicals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biomarkers of oxidative stress study II : are oxidation products of lipids, proteins, and DNA markers of CCl4 poisoning?
Maria B. Kadiiska,Beth C. Gladen,Donna D. Baird,Dori R. Germolec,LeRae Graham,Carol E. Parker,Abraham Nyska,J.T. Wachsman,Bruce N. Ames,Samar Basu,Nathan Brot,Garret A. FitzGerald,Robert A. Floyd,M. George,Jay W. Heinecke,Gary E. Hatch,Kenneth Hensley,John A. Lawson,Lawrence J. Marnett,Jason D. Morrow,D.M. Murray,John P. Plastaras,L. J. Roberts,J. Rokach,Mark K. Shigenaga,Rajindar S. Sohal,J. Sun,R.R. Tice,D. H. Van Thiel,Daniel Wellner,Patrick B. Walter,Kenneth B. Tomer,Ronald P. Mason,J.C. Barrett +33 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that measurements of MDA and isoprostanes in plasma and urine as well as 8-OHdG in urine are potential candidates for general biomarkers of oxidative stress.
Journal ArticleDOI
Development of a testing battery to assess chemical-induced immunotoxicity: National toxicology program's guidelines for immunotoxicity evaluation in mice
Michael I. Luster,Albert E. Munson,Peter T. Thomas,Michael P. Holsapple,James D. Fenters,Kimber L. White,L.D. Lauer,Dori R. Germolec,Gary J. Rosenthal,Jack H. Dean +9 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Immunotoxicity of Perfluorinated Compounds: Recent Developments
TL;DR: Current and recently published work exploring immunomodulation by PFOA, PFOS, and other PFCs in rodent models, alternative laboratory models, and wildlife suggest that immune effects in laboratory animal models occur at serum concentrations below, within the reported range, or just above those reported for highly exposed humans and wildlife.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation of nanoparticle immunotoxicity
TL;DR: Practical strategies for identifying and controlling interferences in common evaluation methods and the implications for regulation are outlined.
