Journal ArticleDOI
Acceleration of heavy ions at the bevatron.
TL;DR: Modifications of the ion source, the injector, and the main acceleration system made the production of highenergy heavy ions possible and the computer control system played an important part.
Journal ArticleDOI
Acceleration of uranium at the bevalac.
J. Alonso,Robert T. Avery,T. Elioff,R. J. Force,H. A. Grunder,H. Lancaster,E. J. Lofgren,J. R. Meneghetti,F. Selph,R. R. Stevenson,R. Yourd +10 more
TL;DR: Recent upgrading projects have extended the mass range of particles that can be accelerated at the Bevalac to include any element of the periodic table to energies above 1 billion electron volts per atomic mass unit.
Journal ArticleDOI
Example of an Antiproton-Nucleon Annihilation
Owen Chamberlain,Warren W. Chupp,A. G. Ekspong,Gerson Goldhaber,Sulamith Goldhaber,E. J. Lofgren,Emilio Segrè,Clyde Wiegand,E. Amaldi,G. Baroni,C. Castagnoli,C. Franzinetti,A. Manfredini +12 more
TL;DR: The existence of antiprotons has recently been demonstrated at the Berkeley Bevatron by a counter experiment as discussed by the authors, where the antiproton was found among the momentum-analyzed (1190 Mev/c) negative particles emitted by a copper target bombarded by 6.2-Bev protons.
