Journal ArticleDOI
d-amphetamine, cocaine and caffeine: a comparative study of acute effects on locomotor activity and behavioural patterns in rats
Katerina Antoniou,E. Kafetzopoulos,Zeta Papadopoulou-Daifoti,Thomas Hyphantis,Marios Marselos +4 more
TL;DR: Detailed observation of behaviour represents a useful approach to research on the behavioural pharmacology of psychostimulants and suggests a stereotyped character to responses seen at high doses of cocaine, though neither cocaine nor caffeine induced stereotypy.
Journal ArticleDOI
A network intervention that locates and intervenes with recently HIV-infected persons: The Transmission Reduction Intervention Project (TRIP).
Georgios K. Nikolopoulos,Georgios K. Nikolopoulos,Eirini Pavlitina,Stephen Q. Muth,John A. Schneider,Mina Psichogiou,Leslie D. Williams,Dimitrios Paraskevis,Vana Sypsa,Gkikas Magiorkinis,Gkikas Magiorkinis,Pavlo Smyrnov,Anya Korobchuk,Tetyana I. Vasylyeva,Britt Skaathun,Melpomeni Malliori,E. Kafetzopoulos,Angelos Hatzakis,Samuel R. Friedman +18 more
TL;DR: Strategic network tracing that starts with recently infected persons could support public health efforts to find and treat people early in their HIV infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Substance P injected into the region of the nucleus basalis magnocellularis facilitates performance of an inhibitory avoidance task
TL;DR: The influence of SP on the performance of the single trial “uphill avoidance task” was tested and the post-trial injection of 1 ng SP led to significantly longer latencies in the uphill response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Treatment and primary prevention in people who inject drugs for chronic hepatitis C infection: is elimination possible in a high-prevalence setting?
Ilias Gountas,Vana Sypsa,Olga Anagnostou,Natasha K. Martin,Natasha K. Martin,Peter Vickerman,E. Kafetzopoulos,Angelos Hatzakis +7 more
TL;DR: Based on theoretical model projections, scaled-up HCV treatment and harm reduction interventions could achieve major reductions in hepatitis C virus incidence and prevalence among people who inject drugs in Athens, Greece by 2030.
Journal ArticleDOI
Turning behavior after unilateral lesion of the subthalamic nucleus in the rat.
TL;DR: Unilateral stereotaxic lesions of the subthalamic nucleus of rats with kainic acid induced a transient spontaneous ipsiversive turning which was present for several days, and which could be blocked by i.p. administration of haloperidol.
